Peugeot e-2008 in Singapore, the cost of owning and insuring it

The electric Peugeot e-2008 in Singapore: its COE category rule, road tax notes and car insurance from 5 insurers for one driver, dated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Peugeot e-2008 is a fully electric car, and that changes some of the sums. Fewer insurers quote electric cars online, and the COE rule for an electric car uses a different power limit. This page goes through what we can show: the COE, road tax and car insurance, then the costs that depend on you.

The insurance figures were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver. They are examples only. Your own premium will depend on your details.

The car we priced

The new-car list we read has no e-2008 on sale now, so there is no list price on this page. Our quote form has one entry, the Peugeot e-2008, electric. All figures below are for it.

COE for an electric car

The price page states the rule for a fully electric e-2008:

  • Category A if its motor is 110kW (147bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more powerful: S$130,100 in the same round

Note that the limit for an electric car is not the same as for a petrol car. COE premiums move at each bidding round. On a used e-2008, the COE is part of the price you pay, so check how many years it has left. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

Road tax for an electric car is not worked out from engine size, since it has no engine. Our facts do not include a road tax figure for the e-2008. Use the road tax page to look up the current sum for an electric car.

The same age surcharge applies once a car passes 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Car insurance for the e-2008

The Peugeot e-2008 price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Peugeot e-2008, electric, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

Only five insurers

5 insurers give an online price for this car. Eleven on our panel do not. Most have no online price for the model yet. Two do not quote electric cars online at all. One does not list the model, and one prices only repairs at any workshop, which does not match this profile. The price page names each one and its reason.

With so few online prices, it can be worth asking other insurers for a quote directly.

The spread

The lowest premium is S$1,127.08 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,753.66: S$626.58 more, or 56% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Excess levels

The lowest premium on the page carries no excess at all. Others carry S$600, S$800 or S$900. Several of the plans are marked as estimates, so confirm those figures on the insurer's own site.

How the price changes

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,601.85, S$474.77 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,601.85, S$474.77 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,601.85, S$474.77 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,257.10, S$130.02 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,127.08, the same
  • A car 8 years old: S$1,127.08, the same

Three of the lines land on the same lowest price. Without NCD, with only 20%, or as a younger driver, the lowest price rises 42%. An older driver pays more here, not less, and one fewer insurer gives that driver a price. The car's age makes no difference to the lowest price. For a new car, though, 4 insurers price it against 5 for the standard profile.

Only the lowest price is shown for each line. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

Against other electric cars

The price page compares the e-2008 with six other electric cars, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$928.51. The e-2008, at S$1,127.08, is 21% above it. Five of the six cost less to insure; only the Model Y costs more. All six are priced online by more insurers than the e-2008. See the Peugeot car insurance page for other Peugeots.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking elsewhere. Check whether your car park has chargers.
  • Charging: depends on how far you drive, where you charge and the rate you pay. Home, car park and public chargers can all cost different amounts.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the battery warranty covers, and for how long.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the Peugeot e-2008, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: not in our facts; see the road tax page for electric cars (age surcharge as listed above)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$1,127.08 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,601.85
  • Insurance, driver aged 65: from S$1,257.10

For a new registration, the October 2026 1st round COE was S$130,001 (Category A) or S$130,100 (Category B).
