What the law requires
If you employ Work Permit or S Pass holders, you must buy medical insurance for each worker. It must cover inpatient care and day surgery of at least S$60,000 a year, with the co-payment set by the Ministry of Manpower for claims above S$15,000. The policy must last for the full term of the work permit. MOM checks it when you apply and renew.
What we need to quote
- The number of workers, their sectors and how long their permits run
- Whether you want to add personal accident, repatriation or a higher medical limit
- Any current policies and their expiry dates
Before you choose
- Insurers differ on hospital panels, pre-existing conditions and how fast they pay claims, not only on price.
- Work injury compensation and security bond cover for the same workers is usually cheaper when bought with the medical policy. So tell us about all three.
