Peugeot 107 in Singapore, road tax and insurance on a 998cc city car

The Peugeot 107 in Singapore: road tax of S$390.60 a year, its COE category and dated insurance prices, with a wide gap between insurers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

A Peugeot 107 has a 998cc engine, so its fixed yearly costs start low. For an experienced driver, its lowest insurance price is low too. But the gap between insurers is wide, and the plans just above the lowest carry large excesses. This guide sets out the figures, with the COE category.

All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not your quote.

The 107 on our form

Our quote form prices the Peugeot 107, with a 998cc engine. It is the version most insurers quote, and the only one this guide covers.

The new-car list read for this guide has no entry for the 107 on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type here. Any 107 you buy will be used.

COE

For the 107, with its 998cc engine, the COE category depends on power:

  • Category A: if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less
  • Category B: if it is more

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. On a used car, the COE stays with the car until it expires. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 998cc engine S$390.60 a year before any age surcharge. That was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge for older cars:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has the formula.

Car insurance for the standard driver

The Peugeot 107 price page prices this case:

  • Car: Peugeot 107, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

12 insurers price it, across 19 plans. The lowest premium is S$545.00, on a plan that allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,243.76. That is S$698.76 more, or 128% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

In plain terms, the same car and driver can cost more than twice as much from one insurer as another. Four insurers on the panel have no online price for the 107.

Excess

Eight of the 19 plans carry an S$600 excess. Two carry S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three carry S$2,500 and one S$3,000. Every plan here has an excess.

Look at the plans just after the lowest. The second, S$780.01, carries an S$3,000 excess. The fourth, S$896.57, carries S$2,500. The third, S$892.45, carries S$600. Four plans are estimates, which can change once your details are in.

How the price changes

The price page shows the lowest price with one change at a time:

  • No NCD (0%): S$907.92, S$362.92 more
  • 20% NCD: S$903.53, S$358.53 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$907.92, S$362.92 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$545.00, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$552.91, S$7.91 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$545.00, the same

NCD: with none, the lowest price is 67% higher. Even 20% NCD gives almost the same figure, S$903.53.

A young driver: aged 27 with 30% NCD, the lowest price matches the no-NCD figure.

An older driver: pays the same as the standard driver, with one fewer insurer quoting.

Car age: barely matters at the lowest price. A new car costs S$7.91 more, and an 8-year-old one the same as a 3-year-old one.

These are lowest prices only.

Against similar small cars

The price page compares six cars with similar engines, same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$660.63. The 107 is 18% below it, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Chery QQ matches it. Other Peugeot models are on the Peugeot car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page lists more.

Pros and cons on insurance cost

  • For: none of six similar cars is cheaper to insure
  • For: car age barely moves the lowest price
  • Against: high excesses on the plans just above the lowest
  • Against: a very wide spread between insurers

Costs that depend on you

These vary from owner to owner:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and in town
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price
  • ERP: your routes and the times you travel
  • Servicing and parts: ask for the service record and what has been replaced
  • Depreciation: what you pay against the COE years left

Before you buy

  • COE expiry date: and the years left
  • Registration date: it sets the road tax surcharge band
  • Service history: what has been done and what is due
  • Several quotes: with the excess on each in view
