20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

This page is for anyone weighing up a Peugeot 308 Allure Puretech in Singapore, or renewing the cover on one. It breaks the yearly cost into parts: the COE, road tax and car insurance. Then it lists the costs that depend on how you live with the car.

The insurance figures come from our price page on 20 October 2026. They are examples for one stated driver, so your own quote will differ.

The car on our form

There is no 308 Allure Puretech on the new-car list we read, so we give no list price. Our quote form prices one version: the 308 Allure Puretech 1.2, with a 1,199cc engine. All the figures on this page are for it.

Getting the COE right

A car needs a Certificate of Entitlement to be on the road. For the Allure Puretech 1.2 and its 1,199cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • 97kW (130bhp) or less: Category A, which closed at S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • More than that: Category B, which closed at S$130,100 in the same round

Each bidding round moves these figures. A used car comes with its COE already paid, and the years left on it shape its price. The COE page shows the latest results.

Yearly road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,199cc engine a road tax of S$507.72 a year, before any age surcharge.

Cars more than 10 years old pay a surcharge on top:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page works out the figure for other engine sizes.

Insurance: the standard profile

Prices on the Peugeot 308 Allure Puretech price page are for this driver and car:

  • Car: 308 Allure Puretech 1.2, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

Here is the spread

13 insurers price this car online. The lowest premium is S$545.00 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,370.91, which is S$825.91 more, or 152% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Put plainly, one insurer may charge more than double what another asks for the same cover on the same car. Three insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet.

A few prices on the page are marked as estimates. For those, check the final figure on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying, before you rely on it.

The excess

Most plans on the page carry a S$600 excess. Others carry S$500, S$750 or S$800. One carries S$2,500, and one has no excess. A low premium paired with a high excess can cost more when you claim, so compare the two together.

What pushes the price up or down

The price page shows the lowest premium when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,098.76, S$553.76 more
  • 20% NCD: S$903.53, S$358.53 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,010.22, S$465.22 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$545.00, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$552.91, S$7.91 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$545.00, the same

Your NCD does most of the work. Without it, the lowest price is 102% higher, roughly double. A driver aged 27 with three years' experience also pays well above the standard driver. The car's age, on the other hand, barely changes the lowest price.

These lines show the lowest price only. Dearer plans can move by other amounts.

One more detail is worth noting. For the driver aged 65, one fewer insurer gives a price, 12 against 13. An older driver may find a little less choice online, even when the lowest price stays the same.

Similar cars for the same driver

The price page lists six similar cars, each at the version most insurers quote:

Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The Allure Puretech, at S$545.00, is 21% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure for this driver. You can compare other Peugeots on the Peugeot car insurance page, or browse the cheapest cars to insure.

Costs that depend on you

Some costs change too much from owner to owner for one figure:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work, malls and on the street.
  • Petrol: set by your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: set by the roads you use and when.
  • Servicing and repairs: the maker's service schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over time. For a used car, ask to see the service history.
  • Depreciation: what you pay, the COE years left, and what the car sells for later.

Yearly figures we can show

For the 308 Allure Puretech 1.2, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$507.72 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$545.00 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, 20% NCD: from S$903.53
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,098.76

If you register a new car, the October 2026 1st round COE was S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B.
