Peugeot 207 GTi in Singapore, road tax, COE and what insurance costs

The Peugeot 207 GTi 1.6 in Singapore: road tax, COE category and dated insurance prices, from S$700.28 for the standard driver to far more elsewhere.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

A GTi badge can make buyers wonder about insurance. For the Peugeot 207 GTi, the price page answers that for one standard driver. The lowest premium is modest, but the spread between insurers is very wide. This guide sets out the figures, with road tax and the COE category.

All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not your quote.

The GTi on our form

Our quote form prices the 207 GTi 1.6, with a 1,598cc engine. It is the version most insurers quote, and the only one here.

The new-car list read for this guide has no entry for the 207 GTi on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type. Any you find will be used.

COE

For the 207 GTi 1.6, with its 1,598cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A: if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less
  • Category B: if it is more

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Check the power on the car's papers to see which applies. A used car keeps its COE until it expires. The COE page has the latest.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,598cc engine S$741.72 a year before any age surcharge. That was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge for older cars:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has the formula.

Here's what insurance costs

The Peugeot 207 GTi price page prices this case:

  • Car: 207 GTi 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

12 insurers price it, across 19 plans. The lowest premium is S$700.28, on a plan that allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,945.96. That is S$1,245.68 more, or 178% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The next-lowest plan is S$954.93, so the lowest sits well apart from the rest. Four insurers on the panel have no online price for the GTi.

Excess

Eight of the 19 plans carry an S$600 excess. One carries S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three carry S$2,500, one S$3,000 and one none.

The third-lowest premium, S$983.62, is the plan with the S$3,000 excess. Three plans are estimates, which can change once your details are in.

How the price moves

The price page shows the lowest price with one change at a time:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,168.92, S$468.64 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,168.92, S$468.64 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,168.92, S$468.64 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$700.28, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$721.59, S$21.31 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$642.42, S$57.86 less

No NCD: the lowest price is 67% higher, the costliest change.

A young driver: aged 27 with 30% NCD, the same as the no-NCD figure. If a younger driver will use the car, that line matters more than the headline.

An older driver: aged 65 with a long record, no change, with one fewer insurer quoting.

Car age: an 8-year-old GTi costs less to insure at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one.

These are lowest prices only. With such a spread, other plans can move very differently.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six cars with similar engines, same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The 207 GTi is 3% below it. Three of the six cost less to insure: the Corolla Altis, the Sienta and the Freed. Other Peugeot models are on the Peugeot car insurance page.

Pros and cons on insurance cost

  • For: a lowest premium just below the average of six similar cars
  • For: an older car costs less to insure at the lowest price
  • Against: a very wide spread between insurers
  • Against: losing your NCD adds S$468.64 at the lowest price

Costs that depend on you

These vary from owner to owner:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and in town
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price
  • ERP: your routes and the times you drive
  • Servicing and parts: ask how easily parts can be found, and for the service record
  • Depreciation: what you pay against the COE years left

Before you buy

  • COE expiry date: and the years left
  • Registration date: it sets the road tax surcharge band
  • Service history: what has been replaced and what is due
  • Quotes for the real main driver: their age and NCD change the price most
