How much an Audi SQ5 costs to own and insure in Singapore

The Audi SQ5 in Singapore: price as listed, Category B COE, road tax on a 2,995cc engine and dated car insurance examples.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The SQ5 is the high-powered version of Audi's Q5 SUV. In Singapore, that means a big engine, a big road tax bill and insurance quotes that range a long way. This guide takes each cost in turn so you can see where the money goes.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how prices compare between insurers and how they move. They are not a quote.

What is on sale

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one version: the SQ5 Mild Hybrid 3.0 TFSI qu S tronic. It is an SUV made in Mexico, petrol-electric, with a 2,994cc engine and 362bhp.

Our quote form prices the SQ5 3.0 TFSI Quattro, with a 2,995cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and the insurance and road tax figures below are for it.

List price

As listed on 2026-10-10, the SQ5 Mild Hybrid was S$501,999, COE included as listed that day.

List prices follow COE rounds, so the figure moves often. Compare offers on what they include, not only on the headline number.

COE

From the price page's COE section: the SQ5 3.0 TFSI Quattro has a 2,995cc engine, above 1,600cc, so it needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page carries later results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives a 2,995cc engine road tax of S$2,379.24 a year, before any surcharge. That is the largest yearly figure on this page.

A car past 10 years old pays a surcharge:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers other engine sizes.

Insurance: the standard case

The Audi SQ5 price page prices these details:

  • Car: SQ5 3.0 TFSI Quattro, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

10 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$1,210.01 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,535.02. That is S$2,325.01 more, or 192% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The dearest lowest plan is close to three times the lowest. For one car and one driver, few gaps are wider on our pages.

Excess varies a lot

The excess is the share of a claim you pay before the insurer pays. On this page it ranges widely:

  • S$600: five plans
  • S$800: three plans
  • S$2,500: three plans
  • S$500: two plans
  • S$3,000: one plan
  • No excess: one plan

With the excess this varied, the premium alone tells you little. Line up both figures before you choose.

How the premium changes

The lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,794.26, S$584.25 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,794.26, S$584.25 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,794.26, S$584.25 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,322.21, S$112.20 more
  • New car, registered this year: S$1,246.31, S$36.30 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$1,140.55, S$69.46 less

Losing the NCD costs 48% more at the lowest price, the largest change here. The 20% NCD case and the young driver land on the same figure.

An older driver pays a little more, and 9 insurers price that case. A new car costs only slightly more than the 3-year-old one. These are the lowest prices; other plans may change by different amounts.

Similar cars for the same driver

The price page compares six cars with engines of about the same size, for the same driver and car age:

They average S$1,021.38. The SQ5 costs 18% more, and all 6 are cheaper to insure. The 730d and 740d each draw prices from 2 insurers only. For the rest of the brand, see the Audi car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These are part of owning the car but vary too much for one figure:

  • Parking: HDB, condo or landed home parking, plus work and town. Check a large SUV fits the lots you use.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and timing.
  • Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery. Ask what the warranty and any service package include.
  • Depreciation: what the car loses over its COE life depends on what you pay and its later sale price.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
