Most Audi A4s you will find in Singapore today are on the used market or already on the road. The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 had no A4 on sale. So this guide skips the showroom price. It looks at what the A4 costs to keep each year: the COE it carries, road tax and car insurance.
The premiums quoted are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare. They are not your price.
Versions on our quote form
The A4 has come in many forms over the years. Our quote form lists fourteen, including:
- 1.4 TFSI S tronic: 1,395cc
- 1.8 TFSI: 1,798cc
- 2.0, 2.0 T and 2.0 TFSI: 1,984cc
- 3.0: 2,983cc
- 3.2 FSi: 3,189cc
- allroad quattro 3.0 TDI: 2,967cc
- Avant estates: 1.6, 1.8 TFSi, 2.0 and 2.0 TFSI
The insurance figures that follow are for the A4 2.0 (1,984cc). It is the version most of our insurers price.
The COE it sits under
The price page's COE section is short for this car. With a 1,984cc engine, above 1,600cc, the A4 2.0 needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
That figure is what a new car would have bid for in that round. A used A4 carries the COE it was registered with, for the years left on it. The COE page has the latest bidding results.
Road tax each year
Road tax follows engine size. For the 1,984cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.
Because many A4s on sale are older, the surcharge deserves a close look:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The smaller 1.4 and the larger 3.0 and 3.2 engines pay different sums. Use the road tax page for those.
The insurance picture for the standard driver
The Audi A4 price page prices this case:
- Car: A4 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office work, 10 to 19 years behind a licence
- Record: 50% no-claim discount, no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$861.03. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,753.81. That is S$892.78 more, or 104% on top. Every price includes 9% GST.
Put plainly, the same driver can pay roughly double for the same car. Only one insurer on our panel has no online price for the A4 yet.
Excess and plan tiers
Excess on this page runs from S$0 up to S$3,000. Most plans sit at S$500, S$600 or S$750. Some carry S$2,500 or more. Several insurers also offer two or three tiers of plan, with a few hundred dollars between them. Compare the excess and the tier together, not just the headline premium.
Estimates
Some prices on the page are marked as estimates. Those come from a published table rather than a live quote. Your own quote can differ, so treat an estimate as a guide.
What changes the price
The price page re-runs the lowest price with one change at a time:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,212.45, S$351.42 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,212.45, S$351.42 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,212.45, S$351.42 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$861.03, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$886.61, S$25.58 more
- A car 8 years old: S$787.96, S$73.07 less
Losing your NCD lifts the lowest price by 41%. A younger, newer driver lands on the same figure. The older driver pays the same as the standard case. An 8-year-old A4 is cheaper to insure than a 3-year-old one at this lowest price.
These are lowest prices only. Other plans may move by more or less.
How it compares with similar cars
The price page lists six cars of a similar size and engine, for the same driver and car age:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
The six average S$867.25. The A4 comes in 1% below that. Two of them are cheaper to insure, and two match it exactly. The Audi car insurance page covers the make's other models.
Costs only you can put a figure on
- Parking: season parking where you live and where you work, plus what you pay in town.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and timing.
- Servicing and wear: an older car may need more parts over time. Ask for the service records before you buy a used one.
- COE life left: on a used car, the years left on the COE shape what the car is worth to you.
- Depreciation: set by what you pay and what the car fetches later.
