If an Audi A5 is on your shortlist, its costs in Singapore come in two layers. There are the one-off ones, the list price and the COE. Then there are the yearly ones, road tax and car insurance. This page goes through each in turn.
The insurance prices below are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. Your own premium depends on your details, so use these to see how the costs work, not as a quote.
What the new-car list shows
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two A5 versions, both sedans, both petrol, made in Germany and listed under the luxury body type:
- A5 Sedan 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic: 1,984cc, 201bhp
- A5 Sedan 2.0 Edition 1 TFSI S tronic: 1,984cc, 201bhp
The insurance figures here are for the A5 2.0 TFSI (1,984cc), the version most insurers quote. It has the same engine size as both new versions, so the road tax figure applies to all of them.
List prices
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:
- 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic: S$345,999
- 2.0 Edition 1 TFSI S tronic: S$360,999
The list price moves with each COE round. Before you compare quotes from different showrooms, check what each includes.
The COE
With a 1,984cc engine, above 1,600cc, the price page states that the A5 2.0 TFSI needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The next rounds will bring new figures. The COE page lists them.
Road tax
LTA's formula ties road tax to engine size. For 1,984cc, it gives S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge.
Cars kept past 10 years pay a surcharge on top:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the working for other engine sizes.
Car insurance for the standard case
The Audi A5 price page prices this example:
- Car: A5 2.0 TFSI, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
14 insurers price the A5 for that driver. The lowest premium is S$1,043.77 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$2,465.15. The gap is S$1,421.38, which is 136% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That means the same car and driver can pay well over twice as much, depending on the policy. With 14 insurers in play, there is plenty to compare. A few figures are estimates, so the insurer's own quote has the final word.
Excess on these plans
The excess is the part of each claim you pay. Most A5 plans carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800, one asks S$2,500 and one has no excess. When premiums are close, the excess is often what separates them.
What moves the premium
The price page lists the lowest premium after one change, with all else held:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,215, S$171.23 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,215, S$171.23 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,215, S$171.23 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,140.56, S$96.79 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,075.09, S$31.32 more
- A car 8 years old: S$983.86, S$59.91 less
For the A5, the lowest premium is fairly steady. Losing your NCD raises it by 16%, the biggest change shown. A driver aged 65 pays somewhat more. A new car costs a little more, and an 8-year-old car a little less.
Remember these are lowest prices only. Many plans sit above them, and those may rise more sharply when NCD falls.
Next to similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six cars:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average is S$867.25. The A5 costs 20% more than that, and all six are cheaper to insure for this driver. Other models from the make are on the Audi car insurance page.
The costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at home, plus parking at work and in town. Check your own car park's rate.
- Petrol: depends on your distance and pump prices.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the hours you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and ask what the warranty and any service package include.
- Depreciation: shaped by the price you pay and what the car fetches when you sell.
