Audi A3 ownership costs in Singapore, from road tax to insurance

The Audi A3 in Singapore: list prices as listed, the COE rule for its engine, yearly road tax and example car insurance premiums for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Audi A3 is a compact model from a German make, sold here as a sedan and a Sportback. If you are pricing one up, the big items are the purchase price, the COE, road tax and insurance. This guide takes each in turn and says what moves it.

Insurance figures here are examples for a single stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own premium depends on your own details.

The A3 range on sale and on our form

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 shows two versions on sale, both mild hybrids made in Germany:

  • A3 Sedan Mild Hybrid 1.5 TFSI S tronic S line: petrol-electric, 1,498cc, 114bhp
  • A3 Sportback Mild Hybrid 1.5 TFSI S tronic S line: petrol-electric, 1,498cc, 114bhp

Our quote form holds a much longer list, as the A3 has been sold here for years. It runs from a 1.0 (999cc) up to 2.0 engines of 1,968cc and 1,984cc. The insurance figures below are for the A3 1.4 TFSI Cabriolet (1,395cc). That is the version most of our insurers price.

Purchase price as listed

As listed on 2026-10-10, COE included in the list price that day:

  • A3 Sportback 1.5 TFSI S line: S$272,999
  • A3 Sedan 1.5 TFSI S line: S$273,999

These figures move with COE results and with what a dealer adds or leaves out. When you compare offers, line up what each one includes.

COE category

The price page's COE note covers the A3 1.4 TFSI Cabriolet with its 1,395cc engine. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. Both move each round. The COE page shows the most recent results.

Road tax for the priced version

For the 1,395cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$622.66 a year before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.

The newer 1.5 versions have a different engine size, so their road tax differs. The road tax page works out other engine sizes.

An older A3 also pays more each year once it passes 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

That matters if you are looking at a used A3 near the end of its COE.

Here is what the standard driver pays

The Audi A3 price page prices this case:

  • Car: A3 1.4 TFSI Cabriolet, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive
  • Driver: 40 years old, married, works in an office, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% NCD, no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no extras

15 insurers price it. Premiums start at S$776.66. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,526.94. That is S$750.28 more, or 97% on top. All figures include 9% GST.

Only one insurer on our panel has no online price for the A3 yet. So most of the market is visible in one place.

Excess to check

The excess runs from S$0 to S$3,000 on this page. Most plans carry S$500 or S$600. A few carry S$2,500 or S$3,000. A plan with a large excess can look good on price and then cost more when you claim.

Plan names matter

Several insurers offer more than one plan. Some carry names such as collision only, lite or standard, and others a premium or prestige tier. The gap between tiers from the same insurer can be a few hundred dollars. Check what each tier adds before you pay for it.

How the premium shifts

The price page also gives the lowest price with one detail changed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,426.94, S$650.28 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,308.06, S$531.40 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,426.94, S$650.28 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$787.96, S$11.30 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$799.96, S$23.30 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$721.59, S$55.07 less

The NCD is the big lever here. Without it, the lowest price is 84% higher. A younger driver with less experience lands at the same figure. The car's age and the older driver barely move the price.

The A3 beside similar cars

For the same driver and car age, here are six similar cars' lowest prices from the price page:

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The A3 is 6% above it. Three of the six are cheaper to insure. Other Audi models are on the Audi car insurance page.

Running costs that depend on you

These have no single figure, because they turn on your habits and where you live:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, and what you pay at work and in town.
  • Petrol: set by the distance you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on where you go and when.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule, and budget for tyres, brakes and a battery over time. Ask what the warranty covers.
  • Depreciation: what you lose over the COE life depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the A3 1.4 TFSI Cabriolet, dated as shown:

  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,426.94
