Audi A5 Sportback Quattro running costs in Singapore

What a used Audi A5 Sportback Quattro costs to keep in Singapore: Category B COE, road tax and dated insurance examples for a set driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Audi A5 Sportback Quattro is not on the new-car list now, so if you are looking at one, it will be a used car. That changes which costs matter. The COE has already been paid, but road tax and car insurance arrive every year. This page puts dated figures on those costs.

The insurance figures are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. Your own premium will follow your own details. Use these to understand the costs, not as a quote.

The version priced

The quote form lists one version: the A5 Sportback Quattro 2.0A, with a 1,984cc engine. That is the car the figures below are for. Because the new-car list has no entry for this model, there is no list price, power figure or body type on this page.

The COE on a used car

The price page states that the A5 Sportback Quattro 2.0A, with a 1,984cc engine above 1,600cc, needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.

On a used car you will not pay that figure directly. The first owner bought the COE. What you are paying for is the time left on it. Two cars of the same age can carry very different value if one has a renewed COE and the other is close to expiry. Ask for the COE expiry date and set the price against it. The COE page has the latest results if you need to price a renewal.

Road tax

Road tax follows engine size. For 1,984cc, LTA's formula gives S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge.

Many used cars are near or past the 10-year mark, so the surcharge is worth knowing:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

So on an older car, the yearly road tax can sit well above the base figure. Check the registration date. The road tax page shows how the sums are worked out.

Insurance: the example

The Audi A5 Sportback Quattro price page prices this case:

  • Car: A5 Sportback Quattro 2.0A, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

14 insurers price the car for that driver. The lowest premium is S$1,043.77 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$2,465.15. That gap is S$1,421.38, or 136% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

In plain terms, you could pay more than twice as much for the same cover on the same car, simply by not comparing. A few prices on the page are estimates. The insurer's own quote has the final figure.

Excess

Each plan has an excess, the amount you pay on a claim before the insurer pays. Most plans for this car carry S$600. Others are S$500, S$750 or S$800. One plan asks S$2,500, and one has none. Put the excess next to the premium when you compare.

What shifts the premium

The price page lists the lowest premium after one change, with the rest kept the same:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,215, S$171.23 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,215, S$171.23 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,215, S$171.23 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,140.56, S$96.79 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,075.09, S$31.32 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$983.86, S$59.91 less

The lowest premium is fairly stable. With no NCD, it rises 16%, the largest of these changes. A younger driver pays the same as a driver without NCD. A driver aged 65 pays a little more.

For a used-car buyer, the last line is useful. An 8-year-old car is S$59.91 cheaper to insure at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one. These are only the lowest prices, though. Plans above them may move by different amounts.

Similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six cars:

The six average S$867.25. This car is 20% above that, and all six are cheaper to insure. The Audi car insurance page covers other Audi models.

Costs you will have to estimate

  • Parking: season parking where you live, plus work and town parking. Rates differ between car parks.
  • Petrol: depends on your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Repairs and servicing: on a used car, ask for the service history and check what work is due soon, such as tyres, brakes or a battery.
  • Depreciation: tied to what you pay now and the COE years left when you sell.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the A5 Sportback Quattro 2.0A, with dates:

  • Road tax: S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$1,043.77 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,215
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$983.86

If the COE needs renewing or a new car is registered, Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. No list price is shown, as the model is not on the new-car list.
