Audi A5 Sedan, what it costs to buy, tax and insure in Singapore

Audi A5 Sedan costs in Singapore, from the two list prices and Category B COE to road tax and dated car insurance examples.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Audi A5 Sedan comes in two versions on the new-car list, and they share the same engine. So the choice between them changes the purchase price but not the road tax. This page walks through every cost we can put a dated figure on: the list price, the COE, road tax and car insurance.

On insurance, all figures are examples read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. A different driver or car will be quoted a different price. Read them as a guide.

Two versions, one engine

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two A5 Sedans. Both are petrol, made in Germany, listed under the luxury body type, with a 1,984cc engine and 201bhp:

  • A5 Sedan 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic
  • A5 Sedan 2.0 Edition 1 TFSI S tronic

The quote form has the same two. The insurance figures below are for the 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic, the version most insurers quote.

The price on the list

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:

  • 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic: S$345,999
  • 2.0 Edition 1 TFSI S tronic: S$360,999

These are list prices from one date. They follow the COE and can change every round. If you collect offers, ask each one what the price includes.

COE: Category B

The price page states that, with a 1,984cc engine above 1,600cc, the A5 Sedan needs a Category B COE. That category closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

For later rounds, see the COE page.

Road tax each year

For a 1,984cc engine, LTA's formula comes to S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge. Both versions pay the same, since the engine is the same.

If you keep the car past 10 years, the surcharge applies:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page explains the formula.

Premiums for one driver

The Audi A5 Sedan price page quotes this case:

  • Car: A5 Sedan 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

For that driver, 12 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$1,043.77 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$2,465.15, a gap of S$1,421.38, or 136% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest of the insurers' lowest plans costs well over twice the lowest premium. Comparing at each renewal is the simplest way to avoid paying the top of that range. Some figures are estimates, so check them on the insurer's own quote.

The excess you carry

Most A5 Sedan plans set the excess, your share of each claim, at S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. One plan asks S$2,500 and one asks nothing. Two plans with similar premiums can leave you with very different bills after a claim.

If your details differ

The price page shows the lowest premium when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,286.64, up S$242.87
  • 20% NCD: S$1,286.64, up S$242.87
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,286.64, up S$242.87
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,140.56, up S$96.79
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,075.09, up S$31.32
  • A car 8 years old: S$983.86, down S$59.91

The biggest change is losing your NCD, which lifts the lowest price by 23%. A 20% NCD or a younger driver lands on the same figure. An older driver pays a bit more. The car's age makes only a small difference either way.

These are lowest prices. Plans higher up may move by more, so look at the whole list for your own details.

Similar cars on the same terms

For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six cars:

The six average S$867.25 at their lowest. The A5 Sedan comes in 20% above that, and each of the six is cheaper to insure. For the make's other models, see the Audi car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page for a wider list.

Costs with no single figure

These depend on how you live and drive:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, and what you pay at work and when out.
  • Petrol: your distance driven times the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and the times you travel.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package cover, and for how long.
  • Depreciation: what the car loses depends on what you pay and what it sells for later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the A5 Sedan 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic, dated:

  • Road tax: S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$1,043.77 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,286.64

And the one-off costs: list prices of S$345,999 and S$360,999 as listed on 2026-10-10, and a Category B COE of S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
