The Audi S4 Saloon is a saloon with a 2,995cc engine. In Singapore, the engine size is what sets the tone of its running costs. This page goes through each cost we can put a figure on and the details that change them.
The insurance prices quoted are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how insurers differ. They are not your quote.
The car on our form
The new-car list has no S4 Saloon on sale now, so this page has no list price. Our quote form prices a single entry, the Audi S4 Saloon, with a 2,995cc engine. That is the car behind every figure below.
COE
According to the price page's COE section, the S4 Saloon's 2,995cc engine is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
If you buy used, the car comes with whatever COE life is left. Renewing later means paying the rate of that time. The COE page has the latest.
Road tax: the big yearly item
For a 2,995cc engine, LTA's formula gives road tax of S$2,379.24 a year, before any surcharge. On many cars insurance is the larger yearly bill. Here, road tax costs more than the lowest insurance premium.
Past 10 years old, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page works out other engine sizes.
Insurance for one standard driver
The Audi S4 Saloon price page prices this case:
- Car: Audi S4 Saloon, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
9 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$1,501.01 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$2,236.14, which is S$735.13 more, or 49% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
That spread is narrower than on many cars on our pages. Even so, it is a saving of hundreds of dollars a year for the same driver.
The excess
The excess is your part of each claim. Six plans here carry S$600. Three carry S$800 and two carry S$500. One plan asks S$2,500, and one asks nothing. Read the excess before you settle on a price.
Like for like
When you line up quotes, keep the details the same: the same workshop choice, the same named drivers and the same add-ons. A plan that looks cheaper may simply cover less. Ask what each one includes before you compare the premiums.
What changes the S4's premium
The lowest price when one detail differs:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,924.48, S$423.47 higher
- 20% NCD: S$1,924.48, S$423.47 higher
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,924.48, S$423.47 higher
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,722.13, S$221.12 higher
- New car, registered this year: S$1,576.87, S$75.86 higher
- Car 8 years old: S$1,464.13, S$36.88 lower
Losing the NCD costs 28% more, the largest move here. The 20% NCD case and the younger driver end up at that same lowest price.
The older driver also pays more, and 8 insurers price that case rather than 9. The car's age moves the price little either way. These are lowest prices only; other plans can shift differently.
Keeping the NCD
Because the NCD makes the largest difference, ask each insurer how a claim would affect yours. Some plans offer an NCD protector at extra cost. Price it in before you decide whether it is worth having.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six cars with engines close to its own in size, same driver and car age:
- BMW 7 Series: S$1,030.55
- BMW 730d: S$1,019.54
- BMW 730i: S$1,019.54
- BMW 730Li: S$1,019.54
- BMW 740d: S$1,019.54
- BMW 740i: S$1,019.54
Their average lowest price is S$1,021.38. The S4 Saloon costs 47% more, and all 6 are cheaper to insure for this driver. Bear in mind that 2 insurers price the 730d and 2 the 740d, against 9 for the S4. The Audi car insurance page lists other Audis.
Costs that depend on the owner
No single figure fits these, so we give none:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus office and mall charges.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your daily routes and hours.
- Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery as the car ages. On a used car, ask for the service record and what any warranty still covers.
- Depreciation: what the car loses over its COE life depends on what you pay and its later sale price.
