A large SUV with a big engine carries big running costs in Singapore, and the Audi Q7 is a clear case. Road tax on its 3.0-litre engine is high, and insurance quotes spread widely. This guide puts figures on the costs we can show and explains what pushes them up or down.
Every insurance price below is an example for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. It shows how prices compare, not what you will be quoted.
The Q7 range
The new-car list, read on 2026-10-10, has one Q7 on sale: the Q7 2.0 TFSI qu Tip 7-Seater. It is a petrol SUV made in Slovakia, with a 1,984cc engine and 261bhp.
Our quote form lists five versions for cars on the road:
- Audi Q7 2.0: 1,984cc
- Audi Q7 3.0 TDI: 2,967cc
- Audi Q7 S LINE 55 TFSI QUATTRO: 2,995cc
- Audi Q7 TDI Premium Quattro: 3,000cc
- Audi Q7 3.6 FSI: 3,597cc
The insurance figures are for the S LINE 55 TFSI QUATTRO, with its 2,995cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.
Price as listed
The one Q7 on the new-car list was listed at S$515,999 on 2026-10-10, COE included as listed that day. A list price is a snapshot. It moves with each COE round and with what the dealer offers, so check what a quote includes before you compare.
COE category
The price page's COE section covers the 55 TFSI. With a 2,995cc engine, above 1,600cc, it needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page has the latest bidding results.
Road tax on a 2,995cc engine
LTA's formula gives the 55 TFSI's 2,995cc engine road tax of S$2,379.24 a year, before any surcharge. That makes road tax one of the larger yearly bills on this car.
It rises further on an older car:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 2.0 versions pay much less road tax, and the 3.6 more. Look up any engine size on the road tax page.
Car insurance for one standard driver
The Audi Q7 price page prices a single set of details:
- Car: Q7 S LINE 55 TFSI QUATTRO, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving for 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
13 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$1,238.58 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,288.89. The difference is S$2,050.31, which is 166% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
For a car where every cost runs high, a gap of that size is worth your time. Comparing quotes is one of the few levers you control.
The excess
The excess is the share of a claim you pay first. Most plans here carry S$600. Others ask S$500 or S$750, three ask S$2,500, one asks S$3,000 and one asks nothing. A plan with a high excess can look cheap until you claim.
When one detail changes
These are the lowest prices when a single detail differs, with all else the same:
- No NCD (0%): S$2,301.67, S$1,063.09 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,952.00, S$713.42 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$2,330.76, S$1,092.18 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,238.58, no change
- New car, registered this year: S$1,275.73, S$37.15 more
- Car 8 years old: S$1,133.23, S$105.35 less
The younger driver is the costliest change: the lowest price rises 88%. Dropping to no NCD is close behind. If a younger family member will be the main driver, price that case on its own.
The car's age moves the price far less. These are lowest prices only, and plans higher up may shift by other amounts.
The Q7 next to similar cars
The price page lines up six similar cars with large engines, for the same driver and car age:
- BMW 7 Series: S$1,030.55
- BMW 730d: S$1,019.54
- BMW 730i: S$1,019.54
- BMW 730Li: S$1,019.54
- BMW 740d: S$1,019.54
- BMW 740i: S$1,019.54
Their average lowest price is S$1,021.38. The Q7 is 21% above that, and all 6 cost less to insure for this driver. Note how many insurers price each one: the 730d and 740d have only 2 each, so their lowest price rests on fewer quotes. The Audi car insurance page lists the brand's other models.
Costs that depend on how you use it
These costs vary by owner, so we give no figure:
- Parking: HDB, condo or landed home parking, plus work and town. A large SUV needs a lot that fits it, so check before you commit.
- Petrol: depends on how far you go and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the time of day.
- Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, and tyres, brakes and a battery as the years pass. Ask what any warranty or service package covers.
- Depreciation: the value the car loses over its COE life depends on what you pay and what it sells for.
