The Volvo S60 has a long list of versions on our quote form, fourteen in all, with engines from 1,498cc to 2,953cc. Insurers most often quote the D4, so that is the version this guide prices. It covers the COE, road tax and insurance, then the costs that depend on you.
The insurance figures are examples read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver and car. Your own quote depends on your details.
S60 versions on the form
The new-car list has no entry for the S60 on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type here. The quote form lists these versions:
- S60 T2 1.5: 1,498cc
- S60 D2 and S60 DRIVe: 1,560cc
- S60 T2, S60 T3 and S60 T4: 1,595cc
- S60 D4 and S60 T4 M: 1,969cc
- S60 D3: 1,984cc
- S60 2.0T and S60 T5: 1,999cc
- S60 2.4: 2,435cc
- S60 T5 2.4 (A): 2,497cc
- S60 3.0 T6: 2,953cc
The figures below are for the S60 D4 (1,969cc). With so many versions, quote yours by its exact name. Road tax and insurance both depend on it.
COE
The price page states that the S60 D4, with its 1,969cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The COE page has the latest results. On a registered car, check the COE end date before you agree a price.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives S$1,175.74 a year for a 1,969cc engine, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The other S60 versions pay road tax by their own engine size. The road tax page lists them.
Insurance for the standard driver
The Volvo S60 price page prices this case:
- Car: S60 D4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
For that driver:
- Insurers that price it: 14
- Lowest premium: S$886.61
- Highest of the insurers' lowest plans: S$2,279.86
- Gap: S$1,393.25, or 157% more
All prices include 9% GST. Two insurers on our panel have no online price for the S60 yet.
The gap is larger than the lowest premium itself. So the choice of insurer shapes this cost far more than the driver's record does, as the next section shows.
Excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Nine plans here carry S$600. Others are at S$500, S$750 or S$800. Three ask S$2,500 and one asks S$3,000. One plan has none. Check the excess on every quote you compare.
How the price moves
With one detail changed and the rest held, the lowest price becomes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,041.10, S$154.49 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,041.10, S$154.49 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,041.10, S$154.49 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$886.61, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$914.53, S$27.92 more
- A car 8 years old: S$811.71, S$74.90 less
Losing the NCD adds just 17% at the lowest price. A driver with 20% NCD and a driver aged 27 pay the same figure. An older driver pays the same as the standard driver, with one fewer insurer quoting.
An 8-year-old S60 D4 costs S$74.90 less to insure at the lowest price. A new one costs S$27.92 more.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by quite different amounts.
