Volkswagen CC SPRT running costs and insurance in Singapore

Road tax, the Category B COE and car insurance for the Volkswagen CC SPRT in Singapore, where only 10 insurers give an online price.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

If you are looking at a Volkswagen CC SPRT, expect a short list of insurance quotes. Only 10 insurers give it an online price, and six on our panel do not. This guide covers the fixed costs first, the COE and road tax, and then what the insurance prices show.

The insurance figures are examples read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver and car. Your own quote depends on your details.

The version priced

The new-car list has no entry for the CC SPRT on sale now, so this guide gives no list price, power or body type. The quote form lists one entry, the CC SPRT, with a 1,984cc engine. All figures below are for it.

COE

The price page states that the CC SPRT, with its 1,984cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.

Each round brings a new figure, and the COE page has the latest. If the car is already registered, check how many years remain on its COE before you agree a price.

Road tax on a 1,984cc engine

LTA's formula gives S$1,193.34 a year for the 1,984cc engine, before any age surcharge.

Cars more than 10 years old pay more:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

On a base of this size, each step adds a noticeable sum. The road tax page has other engine sizes.

Insurance: a smaller field

The Volkswagen CC SPRT price page prices this case:

  • Car: CC SPRT, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

For that driver:

  • 10 insurers give a price
  • The lowest premium is S$959.78
  • The insurer whose lowest plan is highest asks at least S$2,289.40
  • The gap is S$1,329.62, or 139% on top

All prices include 9% GST. Six insurers on our panel have no online price for the CC SPRT. Four have none yet. One does not list the model on its online quote, and one does not quote it online.

With a smaller field, each quote counts for more. If you already hold a policy with one of the six, ask it directly.

Excess: a narrow band

The excess is what you pay towards each claim. On this car, the plans keep it low. Ten carry S$600, one S$500 and three S$800. One plan has none. No plan here asks more than S$800, so the premium and the cover are where the plans differ.

What moves the premium

With one detail changed and the rest held, the lowest price becomes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,228.69, S$268.91 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,228.69, S$268.91 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,228.69, S$268.91 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,033.13, S$73.35 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$988.65, S$28.87 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$913.55, S$46.23 less

Losing the NCD is the largest change, at 28% on the lowest price. A driver with 20% NCD and a driver aged 27 pay the same figure.

An older driver pays S$73.35 more, and only nine insurers quote that case. A new CC SPRT costs a little more to insure, and an 8-year-old one a little less.

These are lowest prices only. Plans higher up may move by other amounts. When you compare, ask each insurer for the exact case that fits your household, not just the standard one.

Pros and cons on insurance cost

  • For: excesses are low on every plan, none above S$800.
  • For: the NCD jump, at 28%, is modest next to the spread between insurers.
  • Against: only 10 insurers give an online price.
  • Against: four of the six similar cars are cheaper to insure.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The CC SPRT is 11% above that. Four of the six are cheaper to insure. Only the two Lexus models cost more. More Volkswagens are on the Volkswagen car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and the hours you drive.
  • Servicing: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. Ask for the service history.
  • Depreciation: what you pay against what the car fetches later, which depends on the COE years left.
