Volkswagen CC in Singapore, insurance prices, road tax and COE

What the Volkswagen CC 1.8 TSI costs to insure and tax in Singapore, how it compares with similar cars, and how the price moves.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Volkswagen CC stands out on its price page for one reason. For the standard driver, all six of its comparison cars are cheaper to insure. This guide sets out the figures, along with the COE, road tax and the costs that depend on you.

All insurance prices are examples read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver and car. They are not a quote.

The CC on our quote form

The new-car list has no entry for the CC on sale now, so there is no list price, power figure or body type here. The quote form lists two versions, both with an engine size of 1,800cc:

  • CC 1.8 TSI
  • CC 2.0 TDI BlueMotion

The insurance figures below are for the 1.8 TSI, the version most insurers quote. Quote your own car by its exact version name.

COE

The price page states that the CC 1.8 TSI, with its 1,800cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

Each round sets a new figure, and the COE page has the latest. For a registered car, the COE end date tells you how long it can stay on the road before renewal.

Road tax

For the 1,800cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$977.50 a year, before any age surcharge.

The surcharge starts after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers other engines.

Insurance for the standard driver

The Volkswagen CC price page prices this case:

  • Car: CC 1.8 TSI, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

That driver gets prices from 12 insurers:

  • Lowest premium: S$905.52
  • Highest of the insurers' lowest plans: S$2,189.87
  • Gap: S$1,284.35, or 142% more

All prices include 9% GST. Four insurers on our panel have no online price. Three have none for this model yet, and one does not quote the model online.

The lowest premium here comes from a plan named as collision-only cover. Read what each plan covers before you set prices side by side, since a plan with a narrower scope can sit at the top of a list ranked on price.

Excess

The excess is what you pay on each claim. Ten plans here carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. Two ask S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess. Compare it on every quote.

What changes the premium

With one detail changed and the rest kept, the price page shows:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,228.69, S$323.17 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,228.69, S$323.17 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,228.69, S$323.17 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,013.69, S$108.17 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$988.65, S$83.13 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$876.65, S$28.87 less

Without a full NCD, the lowest price rises 36%. That is the largest change. A driver aged 27 with 30% NCD lands on the same figure.

The CC also costs more for an older driver: S$108.17 more for a driver aged 65, and one fewer insurer quotes that case. A new CC also costs more to insure, by S$83.13. An 8-year-old one costs a little less.

These are lowest prices only. Other plans may move by other amounts.

Pros and cons on insurance cost

  • For: losing the NCD adds 36%, a smaller rise than the spread between insurers.
  • For: an older CC is a little cheaper to insure than a 3-year-old one.
  • Against: all six similar cars cost less to insure for the same driver.
  • Against: an older driver pays more, not the same.
  • Against: four insurers have no online price.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page shows these lowest prices:

Their average lowest price is S$741.89. The CC sits 22% above that. Every one of the six is cheaper to insure. If you are choosing between the CC and one of these, insurance is a cost to set beside the others, and it may tip the balance. Other Volkswagens are on the Volkswagen car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at home, plus parking at work and in town.
  • Fuel: your mileage and pump prices.
  • ERP: your routes and the hours you drive.
  • Servicing: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. Ask for the service record.
  • Depreciation: what you pay against what the car fetches later in its COE life.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
