The Subaru Tribeca is no longer on the new-car list, so most buyers in Singapore meet it as a used car. A big engine shapes much of what it costs. This page goes through each cost item that can carry a figure, then the ones that depend on you.
All insurance prices below are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price will turn on your details. Use these to see the shape of the costs, not as a quote.
The version on our quote form
There is no new-car list entry for the Tribeca on sale now. That means no list price is given here. Our quote form carries one version:
- Tribeca 3.0: 2,999cc
Every figure that follows is for this car.
COE category
With a 2,999cc engine, well above 1,600cc, the Tribeca 3.0 needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
That result changes with each bidding round. The COE page lists the latest ones. On a used Tribeca the COE is already paid. What you are buying is the years left on it, so check the expiry date on the car's papers.
Road tax: the big-engine bill
Engine size drives road tax, and the Tribeca's is large. For 2,999cc, LTA's formula gives S$2,383.92 a year, before any age surcharge. The formula was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge matters for an older model like this one. It starts once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Check the car's registration date before you buy, so you know which band it falls in. Other engine sizes are on the road tax page.
What insurance costs for the example driver
The Subaru Tribeca price page prices one driver and one car:
- Car: Tribeca 3.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
For that driver, 11 insurers quote the Tribeca online. The lowest premium is S$926.41. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,840.09. That is S$913.68 more, or 99% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Put plainly, the same cover for the same person can cost close to twice as much from one insurer as from another. Getting more than one quote is the easiest way to see that gap for yourself.
The excess on each plan
The excess is what you pay towards a claim before the insurer pays the rest. On this page S$600 is the most common figure. The full range runs from S$0 to S$3,000. Some lower-priced plans carry an excess of S$2,500 or more. Weigh the excess alongside the premium, not after it.
How the price changes with the details
The price page also shows the lowest price when one thing changes, with all else the same:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,131.40, S$204.99 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,131.40, S$204.99 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,131.40, S$204.99 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,033.28, S$106.87 more
- New car, registered this year: S$926.41, the same
- Car 8 years old: S$902.60, S$23.81 less
Losing your NCD is the costliest change here. It lifts the lowest price by 22%. A younger driver with less experience lands on the same figure. An older driver pays more too, though by less.
The age of the car barely moves the lowest price. A car 8 years old is slightly cheaper to insure than the example car. These figures are lowest prices only, and dearer plans may react differently.
Against similar cars
The price page sets the Tribeca beside six cars with engines of about 3 litres. Each is priced for the same driver and car age:
- Audi Q7: S$1,238.58
- Audi S4 Saloon: S$1,501.01
- Audi S5: S$1,238.58
- Audi S5 SPRTback: S$1,238.58
- Audi SQ5: S$1,210.01
- BMW 7 Series: S$1,030.55
Their average lowest price is S$1,242.89. The Tribeca costs 25% less than that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. Among big-engined cars, then, its insurance sits at the lower end, even if its road tax does not.
Other Subaru models are on the Subaru car insurance page.
Costs that vary by owner
Some costs depend so much on you that one figure would mislead.
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work, malls and on the street.
- Petrol: depends on your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on the routes you take and when.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a car of this age, ask for the service record and what work is coming due.
- Depreciation: set by what you pay, the COE years left, and what the car fetches at the end.
The yearly costs we can put a figure on
For the Tribeca 3.0, dated as shown:

- Insurance, example driver: from S$926.41 a year (20 October 2026)
- Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,131.40
