Subaru Impreza in Singapore, the yearly bills and insurance

The Subaru Impreza's costs in Singapore: the many versions on our quote form, COE, road tax and dated car insurance prices for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Subaru Impreza has been on Singapore roads in many forms over the years. If you are thinking of buying one, this guide puts figures on the costs we can show. It covers the COE, road tax and car insurance.

The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a way to compare, not a quote. Your price depends on your own details.

Many versions, one priced

The new-car list has no Impreza on sale now, so there is no list price, power or body type here. Our quote form lists 17 versions:

  • Impreza 15S: 1,458cc
  • Impreza 1.5, 4D 1.5 R (A) and 5D 1.5 R (A): 1,498cc
  • Impreza 1.6 TS and 5MT: 1,597cc
  • Impreza 4D 1.6 and 5D 1.6i-S AWD CVT: 1,600cc
  • Impreza 2.0, 2.0 R Wagon, 4D 2.0 R-S (A), 5D 2.0 R-S (A), 20 and S-GT: 1,994cc
  • Impreza 5D 2.0i-S: 1,995cc
  • Impreza 2.0 R Limousine: 2,455cc
  • Impreza 2.5: 2,457cc

We priced the 5D 2.0i-S (1,995cc), the version most of our insurers quote. The figures below are for that car. Smaller engines pay less road tax.

COE

For the priced 5D 2.0i-S, with a 1,995cc engine, above 1,600cc, the price page states a Category B COE. That category closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

COE premiums change every round. The COE page has the latest. On a used Impreza, the COE is already paid; check how long it has left.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives S$1,206.24 a year for the 1,995cc engine, before any surcharge for age.

Older cars pay a surcharge on top:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

If you are looking at one of the smaller versions, the road tax page works out its figure.

What insurance costs, standard case

The Subaru Impreza price page asks each insurer to price this case:

  • Car: Impreza 5D 2.0i-S, registered 3 years ago, private use
  • Cover: comprehensive, authorised workshop repairs, no options
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years' driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims

14 insurers price it. The lowest is S$931.07 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,569.53. That is S$638.46 more, or 69% on top. Prices include 9% GST.

With so many quotes, there is plenty to compare. Some insurers offer more than one plan, each with its own cover. Only two insurers have no online price for this model.

What the excess adds

The excess is your share of each claim. On this page it runs from S$0 to S$3,000. Most plans carry S$600, while others carry S$500, S$750, S$800 or S$2,500.

A plan that looks good on premium may carry a far bigger excess. Compare both figures together, and think about how you would pay a claim.

The price page marks estimates from rate tables, and one price that includes a promo code.

The changes that matter

From the price page, the lowest price as one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,040.17, S$109.10 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,040.17, S$109.10 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,040.17, S$109.10 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$931.07, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$977.95, S$46.88 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$836.07, S$95.00 less

The swings here are mild. Losing the NCD adds 12% to the lowest price, and the younger driver lands on the same figure.

Car age makes the clearest difference after that. The 8-year-old car costs S$95 less than the 3-year-old one, at this lowest price.

These are lowest prices only. Plans higher up may change by other amounts.

The Impreza beside similar cars

The price page compares six cars, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Impreza costs 7% more than that. Four of the six are cheaper to insure.

Other Subaru models are on the Subaru car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page looks across makes.

Costs that are up to you

These vary too much to give one figure:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus parking at work and in town.
  • Petrol: set by how far you drive and pump prices.
  • ERP: set by your routes and times.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery wear out with time. On a used car, ask for the records.
  • Depreciation: the value lost from purchase until you sell or the COE runs out.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
