The Subaru Exiga is not sold new any more, so the cars on offer are used ones. If you are thinking of buying one, this page sets out the costs we can put figures on. It covers the COE, road tax and car insurance.
Every insurance figure is an example for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. It shows how prices compare. It is not what you will be quoted.
Two versions on the form
The new-car list has no Exiga, so there is no list price, power or body type here. Our quote form lists two versions, both with the same engine size:
- Exiga 2.0GT: 1,994cc
- Exiga 2.0i: 1,994cc
The figures below are for the 2.0GT, the version most of our insurers quote. As both share an engine size, the road tax is the same for each.
COE category
With a 1,994cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Exiga 2.0GT needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
For a used car the COE is already paid, and its value is built into the asking price. Look at how many years are left. The COE page shows the latest round if you are weighing up a renewal.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives S$1,205.06 a year for a 1,994cc engine, before any age surcharge.
An Exiga on the market today may be old enough to pay the surcharge. It applies after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Ask the seller the registration date, and check the road tax page for other engine sizes.
Insuring the standard driver
The Subaru Exiga price page has every insurer price the same case:
- Car: Exiga 2.0GT, registered 3 years ago, private use
- Cover: comprehensive, authorised workshop, no options
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years' driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
13 insurers give a price. The lowest is S$849.06 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,585.57. That is S$736.51 more, or 87% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
That spread is close to double for the same car and driver. With this many insurers quoting, it is worth seeing them all.
Three more insurers have no online price for the Exiga. Several insurers offer more than one plan, so the page lists more prices than insurers. Plans from the same insurer can differ in cover, not just in price.
The excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Most plans on this page carry S$600. The range runs from S$0 to S$3,000, with some at S$500, S$750, S$800 and S$2,500. A low premium with a high excess can cost you more if you claim. Compare both numbers.
One plan's price includes a promo code, and prices marked as estimates come from an insurer's rate table. The price page shows which.
What moves the price
Here is the lowest price with one change at a time:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,090.50, S$241.44 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,090.50, S$241.44 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,090.50, S$241.44 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$927.85, S$78.79 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$874.61, S$25.55 more
- A car 8 years old: S$808.17, S$40.89 less
No NCD adds 28% to the lowest price, the largest change here. A 20% NCD and the younger driver cost the same.
The older driver pays a little more. And the 8-year-old car is cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old one, which matters for a model bought used.
These are the lowest prices only. Other plans may move by more or less.
Next to similar cars
The price page compares six cars with similar engine sizes, for the same driver and car age:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Exiga costs 2% less than that. Two of the six, the Harrier and the Voxy, are cheaper to insure.
More Subaru models are on the Subaru car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks cars across makes.
The costs that vary by owner
We give no figures for these, as they depend on you:
- Parking: season parking where you live and work, plus short stays elsewhere.
- Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: the roads you use and when.
- Maintenance: servicing on the maker's schedule, with tyres, brakes and a battery over time. An older car may need more. Ask for its service history.
- Depreciation: what the car loses until you sell it or the COE ends.
Summary of yearly costs we can show
