Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-S, what it costs to own and insure here

The Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-S in Singapore: COE category, road tax and dated car insurance prices, with how a young driver or no NCD changes them.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

If a Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-S is on your list, this page sets out what it costs to keep in Singapore. It goes through the COE, road tax and car insurance, using only figures we can show.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not your quote. Your own price depends on your details.

The car we priced

The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So there is no list price, power or body type here.

Our quote form prices the Crosstrek 2.0i-S with a 1,995cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.

COE

The price page gives a clear answer for this one. With a 1,995cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Crosstrek 2.0i-S needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

The premium resets every bidding round. Check the COE page for the latest.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives S$1,206.24 a year for a 1,995cc engine, before any age surcharge. Road tax rises steeply with engine size, so a car of this size pays a good deal more than a smaller one. It is a cost you meet every year you keep the car.

The surcharge for older cars starts after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers other engines.

Insurance for the standard driver

The Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-S price page asks each insurer to price this case:

  • Car: Crosstrek 2.0i-S, registered 3 years ago, private use
  • Cover: comprehensive, authorised workshop, no options
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years' driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims

Only 6 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$882.31 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,728.81. That is S$846.50 more, or 96% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Ten insurers have no online price for this model. With so few quotes, the gap between them matters even more. The dearest lowest plan costs almost twice the lowest premium. Six quotes is still enough to compare, but the choice is narrow. If one insurer will not take you, the next option may cost a lot more.

The excess on these plans

The excess is the part of a claim you pay yourself. Most plans on this page carry S$600. One carries S$2,500, and one carries none at all. Check the excess before you settle on a premium, since it is what you pay when you claim. Some insurers offer more than one plan, and those plans can differ in cover as well as price. Read what each plan includes.

A young driver pays most

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes. On this car the changes are large:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,724.85, S$842.54 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,380.72, S$498.41 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,804.46, S$922.15 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$964.19, S$81.88 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$908.86, S$26.55 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$839.82, S$42.49 less

The young driver is the biggest change. The lowest price rises by 105%, more than double the standard case. Losing the NCD comes close behind.

Even a 20% NCD costs a lot more than 50%. So the discount you bring with you counts for much on this car.

The older driver and a new car both cost a little more. An 8-year-old car costs a little less.

These are lowest prices only. With few insurers quoting, one insurer's rates can set every line of this list.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six cars with similar engines, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Crosstrek 2.0i-S costs 2% more, so it sits near the middle. Four of the six are cheaper to insure.

The Subaru car insurance page lists other Subaru models. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks cars across makes.

Costs that depend on the owner

These vary with how you use the car, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and in town.
  • Petrol: depends on distance and pump prices.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and when you drive.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due over time. Ask what any warranty covers.
  • Depreciation: the value lost over the COE's life, set by your price and the car's later value.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
