Running a used Skoda Yeti in Singapore, with insurance prices

What a Skoda Yeti costs to keep in Singapore: COE rule, road tax and dated car insurance prices for a standard driver and for other drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Skoda Yeti is not on the new-car list, so you are most likely looking at one second hand. This page sets out the yearly costs we can show for it. It covers road tax and car insurance, with a note on how the COE works.

All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price will depend on your details.

The Yeti we priced

There is no new-car list entry, so we give no list price, power or body type. Our quote form prices the Yeti 1.2 TSI, with a 1,197cc engine. Most of our insurers quote this version, and all figures below are for it.

COE

The Yeti 1.2 TSI has a 1,197cc engine, so its power decides the category. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. If it has more, it needs a Category B COE.

The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. The COE page has the latest results.

With a used car the COE comes with it. Look at how long the COE has left, since that sets how long you can keep the car without renewing.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives S$506.54 a year for the 1,197cc engine. This is before any surcharge for age.

On an older Yeti, check whether the surcharge applies. It starts after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Other engine sizes are on the road tax page.

Insuring the Yeti: the standard driver

The Skoda Yeti price page has every insurer price one case:

  • Car: Yeti 1.2 TSI, registered 3 years ago, private use
  • Cover: comprehensive, authorised workshop, no options
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years' driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD) and no claims

12 insurers price it. The lowest is S$666.79 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,247.27. That is S$580.48 more, or 87% on top. Prices include 9% GST.

So one insurer's lowest price can be nearly double another's for the same driver. Comparing is where most of the saving lies.

Four more insurers have no online price for this model yet. Some insurers on the page offer more than one plan, so there are more prices than insurers. Each plan sets its own cover, so compare what you get as well as the price.

Excess levels

The excess is the share of a claim you pay yourself. The range on this page is S$0 to S$3,000, and most plans sit at S$600.

Some low premiums carry an excess of S$2,500 or S$3,000. A plan that costs a little more each year may cost less on the day you claim. Read both figures together.

Prices marked as estimates come from an insurer's rate table.

Changing one thing at a time

The price page shows how the lowest price moves when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,026.78, S$359.99 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,021.55, S$354.76 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,026.78, S$359.99 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$666.79, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$700.28, S$33.49 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$622.34, S$44.45 less

The NCD is the biggest factor. With no NCD the lowest price rises by 54%. The younger driver and the 20% NCD land close to that.

The older driver pays the same. An 8-year-old car costs less to insure than the 3-year-old one in the main case. That is useful for a model now sold mostly used.

These are lowest prices only. Other plans may change by other amounts.

How it sits against similar cars

The price page compares six cars of similar engine size, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The Yeti costs 3% less than that. Three of the six are cheaper to insure, and three cost more.

Other Skodas are on the Skoda car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks cars across makes.

Costs set by how you drive and live

We cannot give one figure for these:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus parking at work and around town.
  • Petrol: your distance and the pump price on the day.
  • ERP: set by your routes and the time of day.
  • Upkeep: servicing to the maker's schedule, with tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. On a used car, ask to see the service history.
  • Depreciation: what you lose from purchase to sale, or until the COE ends.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the Yeti 1.2 TSI, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$506.54 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$666.79 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,026.78
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$622.34

For a new registration, the COE closed at S$130,001 (Category A) or S$130,100 (Category B) in the October 2026 1st round.
