The Skoda Fabia's most quoted version has a 1.2 engine, which keeps its road tax down. Its insurance sits close to the average of the similar cars on its price page. This page goes through the COE rule, road tax and car insurance from 10 insurers, then the costs that depend on how you use the car.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.
Versions on our form
The new-car list we read has no Fabia on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries two versions:
- Fabia 1.2 Ambiente: 1,197cc
- Fabia 2.0 Combi: 1,984cc
The insurance figures are for the 1.2 Ambiente, the version most of our insurers quote. The 2.0 Combi has a much larger engine, so its road tax is far higher.
COE
For the Fabia 1.2 Ambiente, with a 1,197cc engine, the category depends on power:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
- Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round
On a used Fabia, the COE comes with the car. Ask how many years are left on it. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,197cc engine a road tax of S$506.54 a year, before any age surcharge. For the 2.0 Combi, see the road tax page.
A surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Insurance for the Fabia

- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims

Ten insurers quote
10 insurers give an online price. Six on our panel do not: five have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it. You may get more choice by asking others directly.
The lowest premium is S$666.79 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,247.27: S$580.48 more, or 87% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Excess: look at the top three
The three lowest premiums carry very different excesses: S$600, S$2,500 and S$3,000. After those, most plans carry S$600, with some at S$500 or S$800 and one at none. A low premium with a S$3,000 excess is a different deal from one with S$600, so compare both figures.
Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm them on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,036.64, S$369.85 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,012.53, S$345.74 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,036.64, S$369.85 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$666.79, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$700.28, S$33.49 more
- A car 8 years old: S$622.34, S$44.45 less
Your NCD matters most. Without it, the lowest price rises 55%, and 20% NCD is only a little better. The 27-year-old driver pays the no-NCD figure. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with 9 insurers quoting. A new Fabia costs S$33.49 more at the lowest price and an 8-year-old one S$44.45 less.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.
What to check on a plan
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
- Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
- NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on, not in these prices.
- Right version: make sure each quote is for the 1.2 or the 2.0, whichever you have.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz GLA: S$787.96
- Honda Jazz / Fit: S$622.34
- Nissan Qashqai: S$590.12
- Toyota C-HR: S$552.91
Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The Fabia, at S$666.79, is 3% below it. Three of the six, the Jazz, the Qashqai and the C-HR, cost less to insure. Other Skoda models are on the Skoda car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery. On a used car, ask for the service history.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.
