Skoda Karoq costs in Singapore, road tax and car insurance

Skoda Karoq 1.4 TSI Style costs in Singapore: road tax, the COE category rule and car insurance from 12 insurers for one standard driver, dated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Skoda Karoq comes in below most of the similar cars on its price page for insurance. Only one of the six costs less. This page shows that comparison, along with the COE rule, the road tax and the full spread between 12 insurers. It closes with the costs that depend on you.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.

Versions on our form

The new-car list we read has no Karoq on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries two versions:

  • Karoq 1.4 TSI Style: 1,395cc
  • Karoq 1.5: 1,498cc

The insurance figures are for the 1.4 TSI Style, the version most of our insurers quote. The 1.5's slightly larger engine pays a little more road tax.

COE

For the Karoq 1.4 TSI Style, with a 1,395cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

When you buy used, you take over the COE on the car. Its remaining years count towards the price. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,395cc engine a road tax of S$622.66 a year, before any age surcharge. The 1.5's figure is on the road tax page.

A surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Insurance for the Karoq

The Skoda Karoq price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Karoq 1.4 TSI Style, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

The spread

12 insurers price it. Four on our panel do not: three have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it.

The lowest premium is S$622.34 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,296.21: S$673.87 more, or 108% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than double the lowest one, for the same car and driver.

The excess

Among the four lowest premiums, the excesses are S$600, S$2,500, S$500 and S$3,000. That is a wide mix for prices fairly close together. Most other plans carry S$600, some S$800, a few S$2,500, and one none. Read every premium with its excess.

Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm them on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

How the price changes

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,098.76, S$476.42 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,048.14, S$425.80 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,098.76, S$476.42 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$622.34, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$642.42, S$20.08 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$569.36, S$52.98 less

The NCD is the main lever. With none, the lowest price rises 77%. At 20% NCD it is only a little lower, and the 27-year-old driver pays the no-NCD figure. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with 11 insurers quoting. Car age moves the lowest price only a little.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check on a plan

  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
  • NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on. It is not in these prices.
  • Right version: make sure each quote matches your Karoq's engine.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Karoq, at S$622.34, is 15% below it. Only the Sienta costs less to insure. Other Skoda models are on the Skoda car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery. On a used car, ask for the service history.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.
