Skoda Octavia Scout 2.0 TDi costs in Singapore: Category B COE, road tax on 1,968cc and car insurance from 8 insurers for one standard driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Skoda Octavia Scout 2.0 TDi is a used-car buy in Singapore, with a two-litre engine that puts it in Category B for the COE. Only 8 insurers price it online. For this car, your NCD makes a very large difference to the premium. This page goes through those figures, then the costs that depend on you.

The insurance figures were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver. They are examples only.

The version we priced

The new-car list we read has no Octavia Scout on sale, so there is no list price here. Our quote form prices the Octavia Scout 2.0 TDi, with a 1,968cc engine.

COE: Category B

With a 1,968cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Octavia Scout 2.0 TDi needs a Category B COE. That closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

On a used car, the COE has already been paid. Check how many years it has left, since that is part of what you are paying for. When it ends, the owner must renew it or take the car off the road. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,968cc engine a road tax of S$1,174.56 a year, before any age surcharge.

A surcharge is added once the car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Check the registration date of any Scout you look at. The road tax page has other engine sizes.

Insurance for the Octavia Scout

The Skoda Octavia Scout price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Octavia Scout 2.0 TDi, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

Eight insurers

Only 8 insurers give an online price. Another eight on our panel do not: seven have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it. With half the panel missing, a direct quote may add to your choice.

The lowest premium is S$996.21 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,453.34: S$457.13 more, or 46% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The excess

Excesses here are low. Most plans carry S$600, two carry S$500, and one has none. That makes the premiums easy to compare like for like.

One price on the page is marked as an estimate. Confirm it on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

The NCD matters most

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$2,097.28, S$1,101.07 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,677.82, S$681.61 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,535.74, S$539.53 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,096.97, S$100.76 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,075.09, S$78.88 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$982.19, S$14.02 less

With no NCD, the lowest price rises 111%, more than double. Even at 20% NCD, it is S$681.61 above the standard driver. For this car, a claim that cuts your NCD could cost you far more in later premiums than the excess.

A 27-year-old driver also pays much more. An older driver pays S$100.76 more, with 7 insurers quoting. The new car costs S$78.88 more, also with 7 quoting. An 8-year-old car is only slightly cheaper.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check on a plan

  • NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on. It is not in these prices, but the NCD lines above show what it would guard.
  • Car age: if your Scout is older than the profile, check that each insurer still prices it online.
  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Octavia Scout, at S$996.21, is 15% above it, and all six cost less to insure. Each is also quoted online by more insurers. Other Skodas are on the Skoda car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Fuel: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the full service record and check that parts are easy to find.
  • Depreciation: weigh the price you pay against the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
