20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

This page is for anyone weighing up a used Seat Toledo in Singapore, or renewing cover on one. It puts figures on the COE rule, road tax and car insurance from 14 insurers. Then it covers the running costs that vary from owner to owner.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own premium depends on your details.

Two versions

The new-car list we read has no Toledo on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries two versions:

  • Toledo 1.4: 1,395cc
  • Toledo 1.6: 1,595cc

The insurance figures are for the 1.4, the version most of our insurers quote. The 1.6's larger engine pays more road tax.

COE

For the Toledo 1.4, with a 1,395cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

On a used Toledo, the COE has been paid. What you are buying is the years left on it, so check the date. The COE page has the latest round.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,395cc engine a road tax of S$622.66 a year, before any age surcharge. The 1.6's figure is on the road tax page.

A surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Car insurance

The Seat Toledo price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Toledo 1.4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

What the prices show

14 insurers price the Toledo, and two on our panel have no online price for it yet.

The lowest premium is S$764.82 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,755.29: S$990.47 more, or 130% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Two close prices, two different excesses

The two lowest premiums are very close together. But one carries a S$600 excess and the other S$2,500. Most other plans carry S$600. Some carry S$500, S$750 or S$800, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and the dearest plan none. On a claim, the excess can matter more than the premium gap.

Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm them on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

How the lowest price moves

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,050.84, S$286.02 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$286.02 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$286.02 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$764.82, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$741.48, S$23.34 less
  • A car 8 years old: S$700.28, S$64.54 less

No NCD, 20% NCD and the younger driver all reach the same lowest price, 37% above the standard driver. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with 13 insurers quoting.

Both car-age lines come in lower. A new car is S$23.34 cheaper at the lowest price, because a different insurer sets the lowest figure for it. An 8-year-old one is S$64.54 cheaper.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check on a plan

  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
  • NCD protection: an add-on on some plans, not included in these prices.
  • Car age: if your Toledo is older than the profile, check each insurer still prices it online.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Toledo, at S$764.82, is 4% above it. Three of the six, the Corolla Altis, Freed and Sienta, cost less to insure, and the other three cost more. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask for the service record and check that parts are easy to find.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.
