Seat Alhambra in Singapore, what it costs to own and insure

Seat Alhambra 1.4 TSI costs in Singapore: road tax, the COE category rule and car insurance from 14 insurers for one standard driver, dated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Seat Alhambra shows a very wide insurance spread. For the same driver and car, the dearest insurer's lowest plan is well over double the lowest premium. This page goes through those prices, the road tax and the COE rule, then the costs that depend on you.

All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price depends on your details.

Three versions on our form

The new-car list we read has no Alhambra on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries three versions:

  • Alhambra 1.4 TSI: 1,390cc
  • Alhambra 2.0 Stella: 1,894cc
  • Alhambra 2.0 Vigo: 1,984cc

The insurance figures are for the 1.4 TSI, the version most of our insurers quote. The two 2.0 versions have much larger engines, so their road tax is higher. Check which one you are looking at.

COE for the 1.4 TSI

For the Alhambra 1.4 TSI, with a 1,390cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

When you buy used, the COE comes with the car. The years left on it count towards the price. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,390cc engine a road tax of S$619.74 a year, before any age surcharge. For the 1,894cc and 1,984cc versions, see the road tax page.

A surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Insurance for the Alhambra

The Seat Alhambra price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Alhambra 1.4 TSI, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

A very wide spread

14 insurers price it online, and two on our panel have no price for it yet.

The lowest premium is S$660.69 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,785.67. That is S$1,124.98 more, or 170% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

A gap that size means the same family car could cost you well over a thousand dollars more a year to insure, depending only on where you buy.

Read the excess too

The two lowest premiums carry S$600 and S$2,500. Across the page, most plans carry S$600. Others carry S$500, S$750 or S$800, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and the dearest one none. A plan with no excess and a high premium suits some owners and not others. Weigh the two together.

Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm those on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

What moves the price

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,173.85, S$513.16 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,112.75, S$452.06 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,173.85, S$513.16 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$660.69, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$666.79, S$6.10 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$604.07, S$56.62 less

The NCD matters most here. With none, the lowest price rises 78%. A 20% NCD is not much better, and the 27-year-old driver pays the no-NCD figure. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile. Car age moves the lowest price only a little. For the driver aged 65 and the new car, 13 insurers quote.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check on a plan

  • Named drivers: in a family car, several people may drive. Check who is covered and what a younger driver adds.
  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
  • NCD protection: an add-on on some plans, not in these prices.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Alhambra, at S$660.69, is 10% below it. Three of the six, the Corolla Altis, Freed and Sienta, cost less to insure. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: depends on the version, your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask for the service history and check how easily parts can be found.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
