Seat Ibiza in Singapore, what the 1.0 costs to own and insure

Seat Ibiza 1.0 costs in Singapore: road tax on a 999cc engine, the COE category rule and car insurance from 14 insurers for one driver, dated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Seat Ibiza 1.0 is a small-engined car, so its road tax is modest. Its insurance starts low as well, but what you pay depends heavily on which insurer you use and on your NCD. This page sets out the COE rule, road tax and car insurance from 14 insurers, then the costs that depend on you.

All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.

Versions on our form

The new-car list we read has no Ibiza on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries two versions:

  • Ibiza 1.0: 999cc
  • Ibiza 1.2i 12v: 1,198cc

The insurance figures are for the 1.0, the version most of our insurers quote. The 1.2i has a larger engine and pays more road tax.

The COE

For the Ibiza 1.0, with a 999cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

On a used Ibiza, the COE is part of what you buy. Check how many years it has left. The COE page has the latest round.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 999cc engine a road tax of S$390.80 a year, before any age surcharge. For the 1.2i's figure, see the road tax page.

Once a car is more than 10 years old, a surcharge is added:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Car insurance

The Seat Ibiza price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Ibiza 1.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

What 14 insurers ask

14 insurers price the Ibiza online, and two on our panel have no price for it yet.

The lowest premium is S$552.91 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,619.26: S$1,066.35 more, or 193% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

That is a very wide gap for a small car. The dearest insurer's lowest plan costs far more than double the lowest premium.

The excess

The two lowest premiums carry S$600 and S$2,500. Most plans carry S$600. Others carry S$500, S$750 or S$800, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and the dearest plan none. Weigh each premium against what you would pay on a claim.

Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm those on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

How the price moves

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,041.10, S$488.19 more
  • 20% NCD: S$931.22, S$378.31 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,040.07, S$487.16 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$552.91, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$569.36, S$16.45 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$7.91 less

Your NCD has the largest effect. With none, the lowest price rises 88%. A 27-year-old driver pays almost exactly the no-NCD figure. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with 13 insurers quoting. Car age barely matters at the lowest price.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check on a plan

  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Plans that allow any workshop may cost a different amount.
  • Named drivers: a small car is often shared. Check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
  • NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on, not included in these prices.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar small cars:

Their average lowest price is S$660.63. The Ibiza, at S$552.91, is 16% below it. Only the Chery QQ costs less to insure. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery. On a used car, ask for the service record.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the Seat Ibiza 1.0, dated as shown:

  • Insurance, 20% NCD: from S$931.22
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,041.10
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$545.00
