Seat Leon Ecomotive in Singapore, yearly costs and insurance

Seat Leon Ecomotive costs in Singapore: road tax on its 1,598cc engine, the COE rule and car insurance from 7 insurers for one standard driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

Only 7 insurers price the Seat Leon Ecomotive online, and its lowest premium is above every similar car on its price page. If you own one or are thinking of buying one, the insurance section below is where most of the cost lies beyond road tax. This page also covers the COE rule and the costs that depend on you.

The insurance figures were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver. They are examples only.

The car we priced

There is no Leon Ecomotive on the new-car list we read, so there is no list price here. Our quote form prices one version, the Leon Ecomotive, with a 1,598cc engine.

COE

For the Leon Ecomotive, with a 1,598cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

On a used car, check how many years the COE has left. That is part of what you are paying for. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,598cc engine a road tax of S$741.72 a year, before any age surcharge.

A surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.

Insurance for the Leon Ecomotive

The Seat Leon Ecomotive price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Leon Ecomotive, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

Few insurers online

7 insurers give an online price. Nine on our panel do not: eight have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it. With few online prices, asking other insurers directly may widen your choice.

The spread

The lowest premium is S$954.93 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,896.58: S$941.65 more, or 99% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs about double the lowest one.

The excess

Most plans carry S$600. Two carry S$500, the plans marked as estimates S$800, and the dearest plan none. No plan goes higher than S$800, so the premiums compare fairly directly.

Confirm the estimated prices on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

How the lowest price moves

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,031.46, S$76.53 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,031.46, S$76.53 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,031.46, S$76.53 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,031.46, S$76.53 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,031.46, S$76.53 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$873.07, S$81.86 less

Five of the six lines meet at one figure, 8% above the standard driver. Losing your NCD, a younger driver, an older driver and a new car all give the same lowest price. In each case one insurer's estimated price sets it.

That makes the lowest price look steady. But plans further down the list may react far more to the same change. If your profile differs, check the whole list. For the driver aged 65, 6 insurers quote.

An 8-year-old car is the one case that costs less, by S$81.86 at the lowest price.

What to check on a plan

  • Your real profile: the lowest line is flat, so quotes for your own details matter more.
  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may price differently.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive and what each extra driver adds.
  • NCD protection: some plans sell it as an add-on. It is not in these prices.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The Leon Ecomotive, at S$954.93, is 32% above it, and all six cost less to insure. Each is quoted online by more insurers too. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Fuel: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask for the service history and check that parts are easy to find.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
