If you are looking at a Seat Ateca in Singapore, the insurance quotes you collect could vary by more than a thousand dollars for the same cover. This page shows that spread, along with the road tax and the COE rule for the Ateca 1.4. It then lists the costs that depend on you.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.
Versions on our form
There is no Ateca on the new-car list we read, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries two versions, both with a 1,395cc engine:
- Ateca 1.4
- Ateca 1.4 TSI
The insurance figures are for the Ateca 1.4, the version most of our insurers quote. Both versions share an engine size, so their road tax is the same.
COE
For the Ateca 1.4, with a 1,395cc engine, the COE category depends on power:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
- Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round
Buying used, you take over the COE on the car. The years left on it count towards the price. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,395cc engine a road tax of S$622.66 a year, before any age surcharge.
A surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.
Insurance for the Ateca
The Seat Ateca price page prices this profile:
- Car: Ateca 1.4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
From lowest to dearest
13 insurers price it online. Three on our panel do not: two have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it.
The lowest premium is S$660.69 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,785.67: S$1,124.98 more, or 170% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
The excess
The two lowest premiums carry S$600 and S$2,500. Most other plans carry S$600. Some carry S$500 or S$800, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and the dearest plan has none. A higher premium with no excess and a lower one with a big excess are two different deals. Compare them on both figures.
Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm those on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,157.56, S$496.87 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,112.75, S$452.06 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,157.56, S$496.87 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$660.69, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$666.79, S$6.10 more
- A car 8 years old: S$604.07, S$56.62 less
Losing all your NCD raises the lowest price by 75%. A 20% NCD saves little against that, and the 27-year-old driver pays the no-NCD figure. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with 12 insurers quoting. Car age moves the lowest price only a little either way.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.
What to check
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
- Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
- NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on, not included in these prices.
- Right version: check that each quote is for your exact version of the Ateca.

- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Ateca, at S$660.69, is 10% below it. Three of the six, the Corolla Altis, Freed and Sienta, cost less to insure. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery. On a used car, ask for the service history.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.
