Seat Leon Cupra in Singapore, its COE, road tax and insurance

Seat Leon Cupra 2.0 costs in Singapore: a Category B COE, road tax on 1,984cc and car insurance from 11 insurers for one driver, dated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Seat Leon Cupra 2.0 sits in Category B for the COE and pays road tax at the two-litre rate. Its insurance costs more than every similar car on its price page. This page sets out those figures, the spread between 11 insurers and how the lowest price behaves, then the costs that depend on you.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.

The version we priced

The new-car list we read has no Leon Cupra on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form prices the Leon Cupra 2.0, with a 1,984cc engine.

Category B COE

With a 1,984cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Leon Cupra 2.0 needs a Category B COE. It closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

A used Leon Cupra comes with its COE already paid. Its remaining years are a big part of the price, so check the expiry date. The COE page shows the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,984cc engine a road tax of S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge.

Once a car is more than 10 years old, a surcharge is added:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.

Insurance for the Leon Cupra

The Seat Leon Cupra price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Leon Cupra 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

The spread

11 insurers price it. Five on our panel do not: four have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it.

The lowest premium is S$1,096.07 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$2,124.82. That is S$1,028.75 more, or 94% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The dearest insurer's lowest plan is close to double the lowest one. On a car that already costs more to insure, that gap is worth closing.

The excess

Most plans carry S$600, and the plans marked as estimates carry S$800. Others carry S$500, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and the dearest plan none. Compare each premium with its excess.

Confirm the estimated prices on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.

A lowest price that barely moves

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,130.31, S$34.24 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,130.31, S$34.24 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,130.31, S$34.24 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,130.31, S$34.24 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,124.69, S$28.62 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$1,002.12, S$93.95 less

Four lines land on the same figure, just 3% above the standard driver. No NCD, 20% NCD, a younger driver and an older driver all give it. That happens because one insurer's estimated price sets the lowest figure in each of those lines.

So the lowest line hardly changes, but other plans may move a great deal. If your own details differ from the profile, look at the full list, not only the lowest price. For the driver aged 65, 10 insurers quote.

The 8-year-old car is the one line that comes in clearly lower, by S$93.95.

What to check on a plan

  • Your own details: with a flat lowest price, the plans behind it matter more. Price your real profile.
  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
  • NCD protection: an add-on on some plans, not included here.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Leon Cupra, at S$1,096.07, is 26% above it, and all six cost less to insure. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres and brakes. On a used car, ask for the full service record.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,130.31
