Seat Arona costs in Singapore, with a 999cc engine's road tax

Seat Arona 1.0 TSI costs in Singapore: low road tax on a 999cc engine, the COE rule and car insurance from 13 insurers for one driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Seat Arona 1.0 TSI has a small 999cc engine, and that gives it a low road tax. Its insurance starts low too, but the gap between insurers is very wide. This page sets out each cost we can show, then the ones that depend on you.

The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide, not your quote.

The version we priced

There is no Arona on the new-car list we read, so this page has no list price. Our quote form prices the Arona 1.0 TSI, with a 999cc engine.

COE

For the Arona 1.0 TSI, with a 999cc engine, the COE category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

On a used Arona, the COE is already paid. The years left are part of what you pay for, so check the expiry date. The COE page has the latest round.

Road tax on a small engine

LTA's formula gives the 999cc engine a road tax of S$390.80 a year, before any age surcharge. Road tax rises with engine size, so a small engine keeps this bill down.

A surcharge applies once the car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.

Insurance for the Arona

The Seat Arona price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Arona 1.0 TSI, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

A very wide gap

13 insurers price it. Three on our panel do not: two have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it.

The lowest premium is S$552.91 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,647.28: S$1,094.37 more, or 198% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The dearest insurer's lowest plan costs far more than double the lowest premium, for the same car and driver.

The excess

The two lowest premiums carry S$600 and S$2,500. Most plans carry S$600. Others carry S$500 or S$800, one carries S$2,500, and the dearest plan has none. Put each premium beside its excess before you decide.

Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm them on the insurer's own site.

How the price changes

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,050.84, S$497.93 more
  • 20% NCD: S$931.22, S$378.31 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,040.07, S$487.16 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$552.91, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$569.36, S$16.45 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$7.91 less

Your NCD is the big factor. With none, the lowest price rises 90%. A 27-year-old with 30% NCD pays almost as much. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with 12 insurers quoting. Car age barely matters: the 8-year-old car is just S$7.91 cheaper at the lowest price.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check

  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Plans that allow any workshop may cost a different amount.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
  • NCD protection: some plans sell it as an add-on. It is not in these prices.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar small cars:

Their average lowest price is S$660.63. The Arona, at S$552.91, is 16% below it. Only the Chery QQ costs less to insure. Two of the six, the Chery A1 and the Copen, are quoted by just 7 insurers each. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery. On a used car, ask for the service history.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
