The Seat Cupra Ateca 2.0 is a two-litre car with few online insurance quotes. Only 7 insurers price it, and its lowest premium sits above every similar car on its price page. The insurance prices also behave unusually: most changes to the driver barely move them. This page goes through each cost.
The insurance figures were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver. They are examples only.
The version we priced
There is no Cupra Ateca on the new-car list we read, so this page has no list price. Our quote form prices the Cupra Ateca 2.0, with a 1,984cc engine.
COE: Category B
With a 1,984cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Cupra Ateca 2.0 needs a Category B COE. It closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
On a used car, the COE is already paid, and its remaining years are part of the value. When it ends, the owner renews it or takes the car off the road. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,984cc engine a road tax of S$1,193.34 a year, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.
Insurance for the Cupra Ateca
The Seat Cupra Ateca price page prices this profile:
- Car: Cupra Ateca 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
Seven insurers
Only 7 insurers price it online. Nine on our panel do not: eight have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it. With so few online prices, it can help to ask others for a quote directly.
The spread
The lowest premium is S$1,255.49 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,785.67, which is S$530.18 more, or 42% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
The excess
Most plans carry S$600. The plans marked as estimates carry S$800, and one plan has no excess. None goes higher. Confirm the estimated prices on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.
A flat price pattern
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,279.18, S$23.69 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,279.18, S$23.69 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,279.18, S$23.69 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,279.18, S$23.69 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,279.18, S$23.69 more
- A car 8 years old: S$1,147.88, S$107.61 less
Five of the six lines land on the same lowest price, only 2% above the standard driver. Losing your NCD, being younger, being older or buying new all give that figure. The reason is in the table: for each of those lines, the same insurer sets the lowest price, at an estimated figure.
So the lowest price hardly changes, but the full range of plans may change a lot. Look beyond the lowest line when you price a different driver. For the driver aged 65, only 6 insurers quote.
The 8-year-old car is the one line that comes in lower, by S$107.61.
What to check on a plan
- Every quote: with a flat lowest price, the next few plans matter more. Get prices for your own details.
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
- Named drivers: check who may drive and what each extra driver adds.
- NCD protection: an add-on on some plans, not in these prices.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Cupra Ateca, at S$1,255.49, is 45% above it, and all six cost less to insure. Each is also quoted online by far more insurers. Other Seat models are on the Seat car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres and brakes. On a used car, ask for the full service history.
