If you are looking at a Peugeot 508 in Singapore, you are most likely looking at a used one. The new-car list we read has none on sale. This page sets out what the car costs you each year where we have a figure: the COE, road tax and car insurance. It then covers the costs that depend on you.

The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to the range, not a quote.

Seven versions, one engine size for most

Our quote form lists seven versions of the 508. Six share a 1,598cc engine:

  • 508 1.6 HDI SASE and 1.6 HDI Station Wagon
  • 508 1.6 THP SASE and 1.6 THP Station Wagon
  • 508 1.6 VTI SASE and 1.6 VTI Station Wagon

The seventh, the 508 2.2 HDI FAP 204, has a 2,179cc engine. The insurance prices below are for the 1.6 HDI SASE, the version most of our insurers quote. There is no list price here, because the new-car list has no 508.

The COE

For the 508 1.6 HDI SASE, with its 1,598cc engine, the COE category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

On a used 508 the COE is already paid. What matters to you is how many years it has left, since that is part of what you are buying. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

Every 1.6 version pays the same road tax, because they share the 1,598cc engine. LTA's formula gives S$741.72 a year, before any age surcharge. The 2.2's larger engine pays more; see the road tax page.

The age surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The insurance picture

The Peugeot 508 price page uses this profile:

  • Car: 508 1.6 HDI SASE, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

Nine insurers quote

9 insurers give an online price. Seven others on our panel have no online price for the model yet; the price page lists them.

The lowest premium is S$863.44 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,251.89. That is S$388.45 more, or 45% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Watch the excess on the lowest price

The lowest premium on the page carries a S$3,000 excess, the highest on the page. The next plan up carries S$600. So the lowest price is not the lowest cost if you claim. Other plans carry S$500, S$750 or S$2,500, and one has no excess at all. Set each premium beside its excess when you compare.

How the lowest price moves

With one detail changed and the rest held steady, the price page shows:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,267.58, S$404.14 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,067.72, S$204.28 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,752.63, S$889.19 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$837.77, S$25.67 less
  • A new car, registered this year: S$851.86, S$11.58 less
  • A car 8 years old: S$756.01, S$107.43 less

For this car, the younger driver pays most. A 27-year-old with three years' driving and 30% NCD sees the lowest price rise 103%, more than double. Losing all your NCD costs less than that. An older driver and an older car both bring the lowest price down. For the driver aged 65, one fewer insurer gives a price.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans can move by other amounts.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page gives six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The 508, at S$863.44, is 19% above that. Five of the six cost less to insure; only the Mazda 3 costs more. Each of the six is also quoted by more insurers. Other Peugeots are on the Peugeot car insurance page.

Costs that depend on the owner

  • Parking: season parking at home, plus parking at work and when you go out. HDB and condo rates differ.
  • Fuel: your spend depends on the version, your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on the roads you use and your timing.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. On a used 508, ask for the full service record.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price you pay, the COE years left and the price you sell at.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
