What it costs to keep a Peugeot 308 SW on the road in Singapore

Peugeot 308 SW costs in Singapore: road tax on the 1.6 THP, the COE category rule and dated car insurance prices for one standard driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

Keeping a Peugeot 308 SW in Singapore means a set of fixed yearly bills plus the costs of how you use it. This page puts figures on the ones the facts allow: the COE, road tax and car insurance. It then lists the rest in general terms.

Insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Treat them as a guide to the spread, not as your own quote.

Two versions to know

The 308 SW is not on the new-car list we read, so there is no list price to give. Our quote form carries two versions:

  • 308 SW 1.6 THP: 1,598cc
  • 308 SW 1.6 HDi 110: 1,560cc

Every insurance price below is for the 1.6 THP, the version most of our insurers quote. The HDi 110's engine is a little smaller, so its road tax is lower and its premiums may differ.

The COE category

For the 308 SW 1.6 THP, with its 1,598cc engine, the category depends on power:

  • Category A if the power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in that round

Premiums are reset at every bidding round. On a used car, the COE is part of what you pay, so check how many years it has left. The COE page has the latest figures.

Road tax on the 1.6 THP

For a 1,598cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$741.72 a year before any age surcharge. Find the figure for the HDi's 1,560cc on the road tax page.

Older cars pay more. The surcharge begins once a car is over 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Car insurance for the 308 SW

The Peugeot 308 SW price page sets out one profile:

  • Car: 308 SW 1.6 THP, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

A very wide spread

13 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$545.00 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,816.06. That is S$1,271.06 more, or 233% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than double the lowest premium on the page. A gap this large makes comparing well worth the time. Three insurers on our panel have no online price for the model yet.

Check the excess

The excess is what you pay towards each claim. On this page, most plans carry S$600. The rest range from none at all to S$2,500, with S$500, S$750 and S$800 in between. A plan's premium and its excess belong together when you compare.

How the lowest price moves

With one detail changed and everything else kept the same, the price page gives:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,101.73, S$556.73 more
  • 20% NCD: S$903.53, S$358.53 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,010.22, S$465.22 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$545.00, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$552.91, S$7.91 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$545.00, the same

The NCD is the single biggest factor. With none, the lowest price goes up 102%. A 27-year-old with three years' driving pays almost as much. Car age makes almost no difference here: an 8-year-old 308 SW costs the same to insure as a 3-year-old one at the lowest price.

The lines show lowest prices only. Dearer plans may react differently. For the driver aged 65, one fewer insurer prices the car, 12 against 13.

Against similar cars

The price page compares the 308 SW with six similar cars, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The 308 SW, at S$545.00, comes in 25% below it, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. Other Peugeot models are on the Peugeot car insurance page.

Running costs that vary

These costs depend on your own habits and home:

  • Parking: the season rate at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when you go out.
  • Fuel: how far you drive and what the pump charges.
  • ERP: which gantries you pass and when.
  • Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, with tyres, brakes and a battery due over the years. Ask for service records on any used car.
  • Depreciation: driven by the price you pay, the COE years left and the price you get when you sell.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the 308 SW 1.6 THP, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$741.72 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$545.00 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,101.73
  • Insurance, driver aged 27 with 30% NCD: from S$1,010.22

For a new registration, the October 2026 1st round COE was S$130,001 (Category A) or S$130,100 (Category B).
