The Opel Astra SPRT Tourer is listed on our quote form with three engines. If you are looking at a used one, this guide covers the yearly costs the facts can price: road tax and car insurance. It also explains the COE category.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not your quote.
Versions on our quote form
The form lists three:
- SPRT Tourer 1.3 CDTi Start/Stop: 1,248cc
- SPRT Tourer 1.4 Turbo: 1,364cc
- SPRT Tourer 1.4 ecoFLEX: 1,398cc
The price page prices the 1.3 CDTi Start/Stop, the version most insurers quote. The new-car list read for this guide has no entry for this model on sale now. So there is no list price or power figure here.
The COE
For the 1.3 CDTi Start/Stop, with its 1,248cc engine, the COE category depends on power:
- Category A: 97kW (130bhp) or less. S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round.
- Category B: more than that. S$130,100 in the same round.
A used car keeps its COE until it expires. Check the expiry date before you agree a price, since it sets how long you can keep the car. The COE page has the latest.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives a 1,248cc engine S$536.46 a year before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge for older cars:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Road tax rules also differ by fuel type, so confirm the figure for the exact car on the road tax page. The 1.4 versions have bigger engines.
Here's what insurance costs
The Opel Astra SPRT Tourer price page prices this case:
- Car: SPRT Tourer 1.3 CDTi Start/Stop, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
11 insurers price it, across 16 plans. The lowest premium is S$742.90, on a plan that allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,120.15. That is S$377.25 more, or 51% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That spread is narrower than for many cars. Five insurers on the panel have no online price for this model, though, so there are fewer quotes to compare. Each quote you get counts for more.
Excess
Ten of the 16 plans carry an S$600 excess. Two carry S$500 and three S$800. One carries none. No plan here asks for more than S$800.
Three plans are estimates. Their final price can change once your details are in.
How the price moves
The price page shows the lowest price with one change at a time:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,120.15, S$377.25 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,120.15, S$377.25 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,120.15, S$377.25 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$742.90, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$764.82, S$21.92 more
- Car 8 years old: S$666.79, S$76.11 less
Losing the NCD lifts the lowest price by 51%. That is the same S$1,120.15 the dearest insurer's lowest plan asks of the standard driver. A young driver with 30% NCD lands on it too.
A 65-year-old with a long record pays the same as the standard driver, with one fewer insurer quoting. An older car costs less to insure at the lowest price.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by more or less, so compare several plans with your own details.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six cars with similar engines, same driver and car age:
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Jazz / Fit: S$622.34
- Toyota C-HR: S$552.91
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class: S$787.96

Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The SPRT Tourer is 8% above it. Three of the six cost less to insure: the Jazz, the C-HR and the Qashqai. The three Mercedes-Benz models cost more. Other Opel models are on the Opel car insurance page.
