Nissan X-Trail in Singapore, list price, road tax and insurance compared

The Nissan X-Trail in Singapore: the e-POWER list price as listed on 2026-10-10, the X-Trail 2.0's COE and road tax, and dated insurance prices.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Nissan X-Trail is an SUV made in Japan, and it is still on the new-car list. You can price it new as a hybrid or look at older 2.0 and 2.5 cars. This guide covers the list price, the COE category, road tax and car insurance.

Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. The list price is as listed on 2026-10-10. Neither is a quote for you.

Versions on sale and on our form

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one version on sale:

  • X-Trail e-POWER e-4ORCE Hybrid Prestige [Dual-Tone]: petrol-electric, 1,497cc, 211bhp

Our quote form lists three versions: the X-Trail 2.0 (1,997cc), the X-Trail 2.5 (2,488cc) and the X-Trail e-POWER e-4ORCE (1,497cc). The price page prices the X-Trail 2.0, the version most insurers quote. The insurance, COE and road tax figures below are for that car.

The price to buy new

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:

  • e-POWER e-4ORCE Hybrid Prestige [Dual-Tone]: S$256,800

List prices change with every COE round. When you compare offers, check what each includes before you compare totals.

The COE

The X-Trail 2.0's 1,997cc engine is above 1,600cc. That puts it in Category B, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The price page states no category for the e-POWER version. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the X-Trail 2.0's 1,997cc engine S$1,208.58 a year, before any age surcharge. That was checked on 2026-10-19.

Older cars pay a surcharge:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The e-POWER's 1,497cc engine and the 2.5 have different engine sizes, so their road tax differs. The road tax page works them out.

Car insurance for the standard driver

The Nissan X-Trail price page prices this case:

  • Car: X-Trail 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

15 insurers price it, across 25 plans. The lowest premium is S$721.59, on a plan that allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,487.35. That is S$765.76 more, or 106% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Only one insurer on the panel has no online price for the X-Trail, so nearly the whole panel can be compared.

Excess

Twelve of the 25 plans carry an S$600 excess. Three carry S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three carry S$2,500, one S$3,000 and one none.

The second-lowest premium, S$904.60, carries an S$2,500 excess. Four plans are estimates, which can change once your details are in. The lowest plan stands well clear of the rest.

The NCD effect is large

The price page shows the lowest price with one change at a time:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,403.88, S$682.29 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,215.31, S$493.72 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,403.88, S$682.29 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$721.59, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less

With no NCD, the lowest price is 95% higher, close to double. A 20% NCD still leaves you S$493.72 above the standard driver. A 27-year-old with 30% NCD pays the same as the no-NCD figure.

So if you are building your NCD, the headline price is not your price. An older driver pays the same as the standard driver, though one fewer insurer quotes. An older car costs less to insure at the lowest price.

These are lowest prices only.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six cars with similar engines, same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The X-Trail 2.0 is 17% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. Other Nissan models are on the Nissan car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These vary from owner to owner:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking elsewhere
  • Petrol: your distance and the pump price; the e-POWER version uses an electric motor as well as petrol
  • ERP: your routes and times
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule; ask what the warranty and any service package cover on a new car
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later

Summary of yearly costs we can show
