Nissan Cefiro in Singapore, the road tax and insurance you can expect

The Nissan Cefiro 2.0 in Singapore: Category B COE, S$1,209.76 road tax base and dated car insurance prices for standard, young and older drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Nissan Cefiro is a sedan you will find on the used market in Singapore, not in showrooms. If you are considering one, the yearly costs are what you can plan around. This guide sets out road tax, car insurance and the COE category.

All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show where the market sits. Your own price depends on your details.

Versions of the Cefiro

Our quote form lists two:

  • Cefiro 2.0: 1,998cc
  • Cefiro 2.3: 2,349cc

The price page prices the Cefiro 2.0, the version most insurers quote. The new-car list read for this guide has no Cefiro on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type here.

COE

The Cefiro 2.0's 1,998cc engine is above 1,600cc. That means a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

A used Cefiro already has its COE. What you pay for is the time left on it. When the COE ends, the owner must renew it or take the car off the road. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,998cc engine S$1,209.76 a year before any age surcharge. That figure was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge adds a share on top for older cars:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The Cefiro 2.3 has a bigger engine, so its base is higher. The road tax page works it out.

Insurance for the standard driver

The Nissan Cefiro price page prices this case:

  • Car: Cefiro 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

13 insurers price it, across 21 plans. The lowest premium is S$721.59. That plan allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,383.22. That is S$661.63 more, or 92% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Three insurers on the panel have no online price for the Cefiro.

The excess

Twelve of the 21 plans carry an S$600 excess, more than half. Three carry S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One plan carries S$2,500. Every plan here has some excess.

The third-lowest premium, S$875.08, is the one with the S$2,500 excess. Four plans are estimates, so their final price can change once your details are in. When you compare, look at premium and excess together.

How the price changes

The price page shows the lowest price with one change at a time:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,036.25, S$314.66 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,036.25, S$314.66 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,036.25, S$314.66 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$721.59, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less

Losing your NCD is the costliest change, lifting the lowest price by 44%. A 27-year-old with 30% NCD lands on the same figure.

A 65-year-old driver with a long record pays the same lowest price as the standard driver, though one fewer insurer quotes. An older car costs less to insure at the lowest price. For a used Cefiro, that 8-year-old line is likely the closest to your case. These are lowest prices only.

The Cefiro against similar cars

Six cars with similar engines appear on the price page, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Cefiro is 17% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Harrier is the closest, at S$742.90. Other Nissan models are on the Nissan car insurance page.

Pros and cons on insurance cost

  • For: lower than all six similar cars at the lowest price
  • For: no rise for an older main driver at the lowest price
  • Against: a Category B engine with road tax of S$1,209.76 a year
  • Against: losing your NCD adds S$314.66 at the lowest price

Costs that are up to you

These vary by owner, so there is no figure here:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and in town
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price
  • ERP: your routes and the hours you drive
  • Servicing: wear items such as tyres, brakes and battery; ask for the history
  • Depreciation: what you pay against the COE years left

Before you agree a price

  • Check the COE expiry date on the papers
  • Check the registration date, as it sets the road tax surcharge
  • Ask for the service record
  • Get insurance quotes with your own details
