A small SUV with a 1,198cc engine keeps two yearly costs low from the start: road tax and, for many drivers, insurance. The Nissan Kicks e-Power fits that pattern. This guide puts figures on each cost we can show and explains what pushes them up or down.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price depends on your details, so read them as a guide to how the costs compare.
The range on the new-car list
The list read on 2026-10-10 shows the Kicks e-Power as an SUV made in Thailand. Four versions are listed. All are petrol-electric, with a 1,198cc engine and 127bhp:
- e-POWER Hybrid Lite
- e-POWER Hybrid Lite Adventure Series
- e-POWER Hybrid Premium Plus
- e-POWER Hybrid Premium Plus Adventure Series
Our quote form lists it as the Kicks 1.2, 1,198cc. That is the version the insurance figures below refer to.
List prices
As listed on 2026-10-10, COE included:
- Hybrid Lite: S$206,800
- Hybrid Lite Adventure Series: S$209,800
- Hybrid Premium Plus: S$209,800
- Hybrid Premium Plus Adventure Series: S$212,800
The four sit close together. All of them move with the COE round, so check the price and what is included on the day you buy.
COE category
The price page gives the rule for the Kicks 1.2. With a 1,198cc engine, it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. The COE page has later rounds.
Road tax
At 1,198cc, road tax under LTA's formula is S$507.12 a year, before any age surcharge.
Once the car is past 10 years old, a surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page shows the sums for other engines.
What the example driver pays to insure it
The Nissan Kicks e-Power price page prices this profile:
- Car: Kicks 1.2, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
For that profile, 10 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$590.12 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,422.42, which is S$832.30 more, or 141% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Six insurers on our panel have no online price for the Kicks e-Power. That narrows the field you can compare online.
Excess and workshop terms
The excess is what you pay towards each claim. On this page it ranges from S$0 to S$2,500, with S$600 the most common. The lowest-priced plan allows any workshop or an authorised one. Others are authorised-workshop plans, and one is collision-only cover. Check the terms next to each price.
How the premium moves
The price page shows the lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,053.77, S$463.65 more
- 20% NCD: S$993.88, S$403.76 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,053.77, S$463.65 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$590.12, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$608.20, S$18.08 more
- Car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$45.12 less
NCD drives most of the change. Without it, the lowest price is 79% higher. A younger driver with less experience pays the same higher figure. An older driver pays the same as the example. The car's age moves the price only a little. These are lowest prices only.

The price page sets six similar cars beside it, for the same driver and car age:

- Mercedes-Benz GLA: S$787.96
- Honda Jazz / Fit: S$622.34
- Mitsubishi Attrage: S$622.34

Their average lowest price is S$693.58. The Kicks e-Power is 15% below it. Only one of the six, the Toyota C-HR, costs less to insure. Other Nissan models are on the Nissan car insurance page.
If you are buying a used one
- Check the COE end date in the car's records, since it sets how long the car can stay on the road.
- Check the road tax date and whether an age surcharge applies.
- Ask for service records, and see what is due next.
- Quote your own details, including any other named driver, as NCD and age move the price a lot.
Running costs that depend on you
- Parking: your HDB block or condo season rate, plus parking at work and in town.
- Petrol: depends on your distance and the pump price. The e-Power pairs a petrol engine with an electric motor.
- ERP: depends on where and when you drive.
- Servicing: follow the maker's schedule; ask what the warranty covers, including hybrid parts.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.
