A Nissan Lafesta is a used-market car in Singapore. If one is on your list, the useful figures are the ones you will pay every year. This guide covers road tax, the COE category and car insurance for several kinds of driver.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Treat them as a guide to how the market prices the car, not as your quote.
The Lafesta we price
Our quote form prices the Lafesta with a 1,997cc engine, the version most insurers quote. It is the only version on the form.
The new-car list read for this guide has no Lafesta on sale now. So this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type.
The COE category
The Lafesta's 1,997cc engine is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
On a used Lafesta, the COE is already paid and stays with the car. The years left on it are part of what you are buying. The COE page has recent results.
Road tax on 1,997cc
LTA's formula gives this engine S$1,208.58 a year before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.
Older cars pay a surcharge:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page shows the formula for any engine size.
Car insurance for the standard driver
The Nissan Lafesta price page prices one case:
- Car: Lafesta, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
14 insurers price it, across 23 plans. The lowest premium is S$721.59, on a plan that allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,383.22. That is S$661.63 more, or 92% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Two insurers on the panel have no online price for the Lafesta. The other 14 give you plenty to compare, and the gap between them is wide enough to matter.
What the excess looks like
Ten of the 23 plans carry an S$600 excess. Three carry S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three carry S$2,500, one S$3,000 and one none.
The third-lowest premium, S$915.02, is one with an S$2,500 excess. Four plans are estimates, so their price can move once your details are in. Put each premium and its excess side by side.
How the lowest price changes
The price page reruns the lowest price with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,063.80, S$342.21 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,063.80, S$342.21 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,063.80, S$342.21 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$721.59, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
- Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less
Your NCD is the main lever. With none, the lowest price is 47% higher. A 27-year-old with 30% NCD pays the same lowest price.
A 65-year-old with a long record pays the same as the standard driver, though one fewer insurer quotes. An older car costs less to insure at the lowest price. Since any Lafesta you buy will be used, the 8-year-old line may sit closest to your case.
These are lowest prices only. Other plans can move by different amounts.

- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90

- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Lafesta is 17% below it, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Harrier comes closest. Other Nissan models are on the Nissan car insurance page.
