For a typical driver, the Nissan Juke is a car with a low lowest premium. But that figure moves a lot when the driver's no-claim discount changes. This guide sets out the Juke's road tax, its COE category and the insurance figures behind that.
All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the market prices the car. Your own quote depends on your details.
Two Juke versions
Our quote form lists:
- Juke 1.6: 1,598cc
- Juke 1.6 Turbo: 1,618cc
The price page prices the Juke 1.6, the version most insurers quote. The new-car list read for this guide has no Juke on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type here.
COE
The Juke 1.6 has a 1,598cc engine. Its COE category depends on power:
- Category A: 97kW (130bhp) or less. S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round.
- Category B: more than that. S$130,100 in the same round.
The COE page has the latest results. A used Juke carries its existing COE, so check its expiry before you buy.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,598cc engine S$741.72 a year, before any age surcharge. That was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge for older cars:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The Turbo's engine is slightly larger, so its road tax differs a little. Check it on the road tax page.
Here's what insurance costs
The Nissan Juke price page prices this case:
- Car: Juke 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price it, across 25 plans. The lowest premium is S$622.34. That plan allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,317.87. That is S$695.53 more, or 112% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Only one insurer on the panel has no online price for the Juke. The spread is wide enough that the same car and driver can cost more than twice as much from one insurer as another.
Excess
Twelve of the 25 plans carry an S$600 excess. Three carry S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three carry S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess.
The third-lowest premium, S$796.87, comes with an S$2,500 excess. Four plans are estimates, so their final price can change. Compare the excess beside the premium.
The NCD effect, and other changes
The price page shows the lowest price with one change at a time:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,096.34, S$474.00 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,048.14, S$425.80 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,096.34, S$474.00 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$622.34, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$642.42, S$20.08 more
- Car 8 years old: S$569.36, S$52.98 less
The NCD lines are the ones to note. With no NCD, the lowest price is 76% higher. Even a 20% NCD leaves it S$425.80 above the standard figure. If you are new to driving, or have just made a claim, expect a much higher price than the headline.
The young-driver line matches the no-NCD figure. An older driver pays the same as the standard driver, with one fewer insurer quoting. An older car costs less to insure at the lowest price.
These are lowest prices only; dearer plans can move by other amounts.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six cars with similar engines, same driver and car age:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Hyundai Kona: S$721.59
Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The Juke is 14% below it. Only one of the six, the Sienta, is cheaper to insure. Other Nissan models are on the Nissan car insurance page.
Pros and cons on insurance cost
- For: a lowest price below five of six similar cars
- For: an older car costs less to insure at the lowest price
- Against: a large rise for drivers with no NCD or a low one
- Against: a wide spread between insurers
Costs that depend on how you live
These have no single figure:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus work and town parking
- Petrol: your distance and the pump price
- ERP: your routes and travel times
- Servicing: the maker's schedule, plus wear items over time
- Depreciation: what you pay against the COE years left
Before you commit
- Check the COE expiry date and the years left
- Check the registration date, which sets the road tax surcharge
- Ask for the service record
- Get quotes with your own NCD, since it changes this car's price so much
