The D:5 Delica has a large engine, and in Singapore a large engine shows up in the yearly bills. This guide sets out the road tax, the COE category and what car insurance costs for different drivers.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Treat them as a way to compare, not as your own price.
The Delica on the quote form
Our quote form prices the D:5 Delica 2.4, with a 2,359cc engine. It is the version most insurers quote.
There is no entry for the Delica on the new-car list read for this guide. So there is no list price, power figure or body type here. If you are shopping for one, it will most likely be a used car.
COE category B
The Delica's 2,359cc engine is above 1,600cc. That places the D:5 Delica 2.4 in Category B. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
On a used car, the COE runs with the car until it expires. The COE page carries the latest round results.
Road tax on 2,359cc
This is the biggest fixed cost you can put a number on. LTA's formula gives the 2,359cc engine S$1,633.20 a year before any age surcharge. The figure was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge applies to cars more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
On a large engine, each step adds a noticeable sum. If the Delica you are looking at is near or past 10 years old, build that into your budget. The road tax page has the formula for other engines.
Car insurance for the standard driver
The Mitsubishi D:5 Delica price page prices one driver and car:
- Car: D:5 Delica 2.4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
For that driver, 9 insurers price the car, across 12 plans. The lowest premium is S$861.03. That plan allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,603.49, a gap of S$742.46, or 86% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Seven insurers on the panel have no online price for the Delica. That is a narrower field than for a common car, so each quote you get counts for more.
The excess
Half the plans, six of 12, carry an S$600 excess. Three carry S$800. One carries S$500, one carries S$2,500 and one carries none. Four of the plans are estimates, so their final price may change once your details are in.
What moves the price
The price page shows the lowest price when one thing changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,154.84, S$293.81 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,154.84, S$293.81 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,154.84, S$293.81 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$861.03, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$886.61, S$25.58 more
- Car 8 years old: S$787.96, S$73.07 less
Without an NCD, the lowest price rises by 34%, the largest change shown. A young driver with 30% NCD pays the same lowest price.
For an older main driver, the lowest price holds, but only eight insurers price that case. For an older car, the lowest price falls. With fewer insurers in play, the dearer plans can move quite differently, so check more than the top line.
Against other large cars
The price page compares six cars with engines of a similar size, same driver and car age:
- Toyota Camry: S$841.31
- Toyota Alphard: S$764.82
- Toyota Vellfire: S$764.82
- Honda Odyssey: S$811.71
- Audi RS 3 Sedan: S$1,310.08
- Audi RS 3 Sportback: S$1,310.08
Their average lowest price is S$967.14. The Delica is 11% below that. But four of the six cost less to insure: the Camry, the Alphard, the Vellfire and the Odyssey. Only the two Audi RS 3 models cost more, and only three or four insurers price them. Other Mitsubishi cars are on the Mitsubishi car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
Some costs vary so much from owner to owner that a figure would mislead:
- Parking: season parking at your block, plus parking at work and in town
- Petrol: a bigger engine and your mileage both play a part, along with the pump price
- ERP: depends on your routes and when you travel
- Servicing and repairs: tyres, brakes and battery come due; ask a seller for records
- Depreciation: set by what you pay and how many COE years are left
What to check on a used Delica
Before you pay a deposit, a short list of checks can save you money later:
- COE expiry: confirm the date on the papers and the years left
- Registration date: it decides when the road tax surcharge begins
- Service record: ask what has been replaced and what is due
- Insurance with your details: with only nine insurers pricing it, get your own quotes before you buy
