The Mitsubishi ASX is no longer on the new-car list, so most people looking at one now are buying used. That makes the yearly costs the useful part to know. Road tax and car insurance come round every year, whatever you paid for the car.
All the insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you see the spread and what moves it. Your own quote will depend on your details.
Two versions on the quote form
Our quote form lists two versions of the ASX, both with the same engine:
- ASX 2.0 (HTBK): 1,998cc
- ASX 2.0 (SUJP): 1,998cc
The price page prices the ASX 2.0 (HTBK), the version most insurers quote. The new-car list has no entry for the ASX on sale now, so this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type.
The COE category
The ASX's 1,998cc engine is above 1,600cc. That puts the ASX 2.0 (HTBK) in Category B. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
If you buy a used ASX, it comes with its existing COE. What matters then is how many years are left before it runs out. The COE page shows the latest bidding results.
Road tax on a 2.0-litre engine
LTA's formula gives the 1,998cc engine S$1,209.76 a year, before any surcharge for age. That figure was checked on 2026-10-19.
Because many ASX cars on the road are older, the age surcharge is worth knowing:
- More than 10 years old: +10%
- More than 11 years: +20%
- More than 12 years: +30%
- More than 13 years: +40%
- More than 14 years: +50%
The road tax page lets you check other engine sizes.
Insurance for the page's standard driver
The Mitsubishi ASX price page uses one driver and one car for its main prices:
- Car: ASX 2.0 (HTBK), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options added
On that basis, 15 insurers price the car across 23 plans. The lowest premium is S$836.07. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$1,589.16, which is S$753.09 more, or 90% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Only one insurer on the panel has no online price for the ASX yet. So nearly the full panel is open to you.
Look past the premium
The premium is only half of the deal. Check the excess too, the part of a claim you pay yourself.
- Most plans: S$600, on 10 of the 23
- Lower: S$500 on three plans, and one plan with no excess
- Higher: S$750 and S$800 on some plans, up to S$2,500 and S$3,000 on others
Some of the lower premiums carry the higher excesses. A plan at S$980.55 carries an S$2,500 excess, for example. Four plans are also marked as estimates, which means the final price can change once the insurer has your full details.
When something about you or the car changes
The price page reruns the lowest price with one change at a time:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,080.50, which is S$244.43 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,080.50, S$244.43 more
- Aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,080.50, S$244.43 more
- Aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$836.07, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$861.03, S$24.96 more
- A car 8 years old: S$764.82, S$71.25 less
The NCD is the biggest lever. Without it the lowest price rises by 29%. A younger driver with less history pays the same lowest price as a driver with no NCD at all.
Car age works the other way. An 8-year-old ASX is cheaper to insure at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one. For a used buyer that is a small help, but road tax rises once the car passes 10 years old. These lines show lowest prices only; other plans may move differently.
The ASX beside cars with similar engines
The price page compares six cars for the same driver and car age:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The ASX comes in 4% under that, and two of the six are cheaper to insure: the Harrier and the Voxy. More Mitsubishi models are on the Mitsubishi car insurance page.
Costs that vary from owner to owner
These are real costs, but they depend on how you live and drive:
- Parking: your HDB or condo season parking, plus parking at work and around town
- Petrol: set by your mileage and the pump price
- ERP: set by your routes and the time of day
- Servicing and wear: tyres, brakes and battery come due over time; ask a seller for the service record
- Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and how many COE years remain
