The Colt CZC is a rare sight now, and the new-car list carries no entry for it. If you are thinking of buying one, you are buying a used car. What you need to know is what it will cost to keep each year.
This guide covers road tax, car insurance and the COE category. All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price depends on your details.
The version behind the figures
Our quote form prices the Colt CZC 1.5 Turbo, with a 1,468cc engine. It is the version most insurers quote, and the only one this guide covers.
With no new-car list entry, there is no list price, power figure or body type to give. The price you agree with a seller is the price to work from.
COE: two possible categories
The Colt CZC 1.5 Turbo has a 1,468cc engine. Its COE category depends on power:
- Category A: power of 97kW (130bhp) or less. S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round.
- Category B: power above that. S$130,100 in the same round.
For a used car, the COE is already paid and goes with the car. The question is how long it has left. The COE page shows the latest results if you are pricing a renewal.
Road tax for 1,468cc
LTA's formula gives this engine S$665.48 a year, before any surcharge. The figure was checked on 2026-10-19.
A Colt CZC is likely to be an older car, so the age surcharge matters:
- Past 10 years: +10%
- Past 11 years: +20%
- Past 12 years: +30%
- Past 13 years: +40%
- Past 14 years: +50%
The road tax page works out other engine sizes.
Car insurance today
The Mitsubishi Colt CZC price page prices one standard case:
- Car: Colt CZC 1.5 Turbo, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive
- Driver: 40 years old, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, nothing added
13 insurers price that case, across 21 plans. The lowest premium is S$666.79, on a plan that lets you use any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,370.62. That gap is S$703.83, or 106% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Three insurers on the panel do not price this model online. For a rare car, that still leaves a wide choice.
What the excess looks like
The excess is the amount you pay towards each claim. Here is how it falls across the 21 plans:
- S$600: ten plans
- S$500: two plans
- S$750: two plans
- S$800: three plans
- S$2,500: two plans
- S$3,000: one plan
- None: one plan
Four plans are estimates. Their final price can change once the insurer has your full details. A plan with a much higher excess can look good on premium alone, so read both numbers together.
How the lowest premium shifts
The price page changes one detail at a time and reports the new lowest price:
- No NCD (0%): S$935.35, S$268.56 more
- 20% NCD: S$935.35, S$268.56 more
- Aged 27 with 3 years of driving and 30% NCD: S$935.35, S$268.56 more
- Aged 65 with 20 or more years of driving: S$666.79, unchanged
- New car, registered this year: S$700.28, S$33.49 more
- Car 8 years old: S$622.34, S$44.45 less
Your NCD has the most effect. Without it, the lowest price is 40% higher. A young driver with some NCD pays the same lowest price as someone with none.
An older driver with a long record pays no more than the standard driver, though one fewer insurer prices them. An older car is cheaper to insure at the lowest price. These lines track the lowest price only.
Six similar cars for comparison
For the same driver and car age, the price page shows six cars with similar engines:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
They average S$735.99 at their lowest. The Colt CZC is 9% below that. Three of the six cost less to insure: the Sienta, the Corolla Altis and the Freed. The rest of the Mitsubishi range is on the Mitsubishi car insurance page.
Costs you set yourself
These depend on your habits and where you live, so there are no figures here:
- Parking: season parking at home, plus office and town parking
- Petrol: your distance and the pump price
- ERP: your routes and times
- Upkeep: older cars need parts replaced over time; ask for the service history
- Depreciation: what you pay against the COE years left
Checks before you pay a deposit
A rare used car rewards some homework. Before you commit, it helps to:
- Check the COE expiry date on the car's papers, and how many years are left
- Check the registration date, since it sets when the road tax surcharge starts
- Ask for the service record and what has been replaced
- Get insurance quotes first, with your own details, so the yearly cost is known before you buy
