A Colt Ralliart is a performance version of a small hatchback, and that kind of car can raise questions about insurance. This guide answers them with the figures on the price page. It also covers road tax and the COE.
All insurance prices here are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver. They show the spread and what moves it. They are not your quote.
The car on the form
The quote form prices the Colt Ralliart 1.5 Turbo, with a 1,468cc engine. That is the version most insurers quote.
The new-car list has no Colt Ralliart on sale now. So this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type. You are most likely looking at a used car.
Its COE category
With its 1,468cc engine, the Colt Ralliart 1.5 Turbo can fall into either category. It depends on power:
- Category A, if power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. That closed at S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round.
- Category B, if power is higher. That closed at S$130,100 in the same round.
A used car keeps its COE until it expires. Check the expiry date, since it affects what the car is worth to you. The latest bidding results are on the COE page.
What road tax adds
The 1,468cc engine attracts S$665.48 a year in road tax under LTA's formula, before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.
From the tenth year on, the surcharge climbs each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Other engine sizes are on the road tax page.
Here is what insurance costs
The Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart price page prices this case:
- Car: the Ralliart 1.5 Turbo, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
12 insurers price it, with 18 plans between them. The lowest premium is S$666.79. That plan allows any workshop or an authorised one. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,370.62, which is S$703.83, or 106%, more. All prices include 9% GST.
So a turbo badge does not rule out a modest premium for a driver like this. But the spread is wide, and four insurers on the panel do not price the model online.
Excesses and estimates
Ten of the 18 plans carry an S$600 excess. The rest sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800, and one plan has none. Four plans are estimates, so their price may move once the insurer sees your details. When you compare, put the excess beside the premium.
How the price reacts to change
These are the lowest prices with one change each:
- No NCD (0%): S$973.02, S$306.23 more
- 20% NCD: S$973.02, S$306.23 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$973.02, S$306.23 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$666.79, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$700.28, S$33.49 more
- Car 8 years old: S$622.34, S$44.45 less
The NCD effect: with no NCD the lowest price is 46% higher. That is the largest change on the page. The young-driver line lands at the same figure.
The age effect: the older driver pays the same as the standard driver, though one fewer insurer prices them. An 8-year-old car is cheaper at the lowest price, and a new one dearer.
These are lowest prices only. Other plans can move by more or less.
Cars it is compared with
The price page shows six cars with similar engines, for the same driver and car age:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
The six average S$735.99. The Colt Ralliart's lowest price is 9% below that. Three of them are cheaper to insure, and three cost more. More Mitsubishi models are on the Mitsubishi car insurance page.
Pros and cons on insurance cost
- For: a lowest premium below the average of six similar cars
- For: a dozen insurers to compare
- Against: the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than double the lowest
- Against: losing your NCD adds a large amount
What else you will pay
Some costs depend on you, so no figure fits everyone:
- Parking: season parking at your block or condo, and elsewhere
- Petrol: your mileage and the pump price
- ERP: your routes and timing
- Servicing: older cars need more attention; ask for records
- Depreciation: what you pay against the COE years left
Before you commit
A few checks help you avoid surprises on a used Colt Ralliart:
- The COE expiry date: it tells you how long the car can stay on the road before renewal
- The registration date: it sets when the road tax surcharge begins
- The service history: ask what has been done and what is due next
- Your own quotes: price the insurance with your details before you pay, since the spread here is wide
