The V260 on our quote form has a 1,991cc engine. It is not on the new-car list now, so in Singapore it is a used buy. Its insurance is fairly even across the insurers that price it, and the driver's details move it less than on many vehicles. This guide sets out each yearly cost and what changes it.
The insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare. They are not a quote.
The vehicle priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model now, so this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type.
Our quote form prices the V260 with its 1,991cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.
COE
At 1,991cc, the engine is above 1,600cc. So the V260 needs a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
On a used vehicle, the COE is already paid. Ask how many years remain. The COE page has later results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,991cc engine S$1,201.54 a year, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge applies after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the formula.
Insurance for the stated driver
The Mercedes-Benz V260 price page prices this example:
- Car: V260, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
9 insurers price it. Seven on our panel do not price it online. The lowest premium is S$1,021.84 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,406.83. That is S$384.99 more, or 38% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That is a narrower spread than on many vehicles. Several insurers' lowest plans sit close together near the bottom of the list. Even so, a few hundred dollars a year is worth saving. Some prices shown are estimates.
Excess
Almost every plan sets S$600, the lowest included. One sets S$500, some set S$800, and one has no excess. So the premiums on this page can be compared fairly directly.
Plan levels
Several insurers offer a basic plan and fuller ones. The fuller ones cost more and may add cover. Read the details before you pay for extras you may not need. Common extras include a courtesy car while yours is repaired and protection for your NCD. Compare a basic plan with a basic plan when you look across insurers.
Price dates
Each price shows the date it was read. The lowest one was read more than a week before this guide, so check it is still current.
What moves the price
The lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,282.53, S$260.69 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,282.53, S$260.69 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,282.53, S$260.69 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,084.09, S$62.25 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,084.09, S$62.25 more
- A car 8 years old: S$970.20, S$51.64 less
Losing the NCD adds 26% to the lowest price. The younger driver lands on the same figure. The older driver and the new vehicle each add the same small sum. An 8-year-old one costs a little less. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different sums.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
Their average lowest price is S$891.93. The V260 is 15% above that, and all six cost less to insure. The cars are grouped by engine size, not by body or seats, so treat the comparison as a rough guide. Even so, the V260 costs more to insure than each of them for this driver. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page links the other models.
Before you buy
- Registration: confirm it is registered for private use, as these prices assume.
- Engine: check the 1,991cc engine on the log card.
- Dates: first registration sets the road tax step and the COE years left.
- Records: ask for the service history and what is due next.
- Your quote: your NCD and any other drivers will set your real price.
Costs that depend on you
These depend on how you use the vehicle, so no single figure fits:
- Parking: season parking at home and work. Check your car park's height and lot limits.
- Fuel: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and timing.
- Servicing and parts: follow the maker's schedule, and get quotes for big items.
- Depreciation: what you pay set against what it fetches later.
