The V250 on our quote form is the 2.1 version, with a 2,143cc engine. It is not on the new-car list now, so you would buy one used. A good number of insurers price it online, which gives you plenty to compare. This guide sets out what it costs each year: road tax, car insurance and the COE category.
All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Use them to see how prices compare.
The car priced
There is no entry for this model on the new-car list now. So this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type.
Our quote form prices the V250 2.1 with its 2,143cc engine, the version most of our insurers quote.
COE
The 2,143cc engine is above 1,600cc, so the V250 needs a Category B COE. That closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
A used V250 has its COE paid already. Ask how many years are left. The COE page has later results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 2,143cc engine S$1,379.84 a year, before any age surcharge.
From the 10th year, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Check the registration date to see where the vehicle sits. The road tax page explains the formula.
Insurance for the example driver
The Mercedes-Benz V250 price page prices this example:
- Car: V250 2.1, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
12 insurers price it. Four on our panel do not. The lowest premium is S$886.61 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$2,238.84. That is S$1,352.23 more, or 153% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the top lowest plan is more than twice the bottom one. Most plans sit far below the top, though. One plan, at S$2,238.84, sits well above all the others, so the spread is mostly that single outlier. Some prices shown are estimates; confirm them with the insurer.
Excess
The lowest plan carries S$600, as most plans do. Others carry S$500 or S$800, one has none, and one asks S$2,500. The S$2,500 plan sits second on price, so check its excess before you weigh it against the lowest.
Plan levels
Several insurers list a basic plan and fuller ones. The fuller plans cost a few hundred dollars more and may add extras, such as a courtesy car while yours is repaired. Compare similar plans across insurers.
Price dates
Each price on the page shows the date it was read. Some here are more than a week old, so they may have moved.
What one change does
The lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,282.53, S$395.92 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,282.53, S$395.92 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,282.53, S$395.92 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$886.61, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$931.07, S$44.46 more
- A car 8 years old: S$811.71, S$74.90 less
Losing the NCD lifts the lowest price by 45%. The younger driver lands on the same figure. The older driver pays the same as the 40-year-old. The older vehicle is cheaper to insure. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different sums.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Vellfire: S$764.82
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
Their average lowest price is S$887.11. The V250 costs about the same as that. Three of the six cost less to insure and three cost more. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page links the other models.
Checks before you buy
- Registration: confirm the vehicle is registered for private use, as these prices assume.
- Engine: check the 2,143cc engine on the log card. Other V-Class versions have different engines.
- Dates: first registration sets the surcharge step and the COE years left.
- Your own quote: your NCD, age and any other drivers will set your real price.
- Service history: ask what has been done and what is due.
Costs that depend on you
These have no single figure, because they turn on your own use. Plan for each one with your own home, routes and habits in mind:
- Parking: season parking at home and work. Check your car park's height and lot limits.
- Fuel: your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and times.
- Servicing and parts: follow the maker's schedule, and get quotes for big items.
- Depreciation: what you pay set against what the vehicle fetches later.
