The Mercedes-Benz V-Class is on the new-car list as a commercial body type, made in Spain. The prices in this guide are for private use. Its costs sit at the high end, and only a handful of insurers price it online. This guide sets out the figures: list price, COE, road tax and car insurance.
Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Use them to compare.
The versions
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two versions:
- V-Class Diesel V 250 CDI Extra Long [Euro VI]: diesel, 2,143cc, 188bhp
- V-Class Mild Hybrid V300L Avantgarde: petrol-electric, 1,999cc, 228bhp
Our quote form prices the V300L Avantgarde, the version most of our insurers quote. Every insurance figure below is for it.
List price
As listed on 2026-10-10, the V300L Avantgarde was S$369,888, with COE included that day. The list gives no price for the diesel version.
List prices move with the COE. Check what each dealer's offer includes before you compare totals.
COE
The V300L's 1,999cc engine is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The price page gives no category for the diesel version, so confirm it with the dealer. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula sets road tax for the V300L's 1,999cc engine at S$1,210.92 a year, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge comes in after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The diesel version has a different engine, so its road tax differs. See the road tax page.
Insurance: only five insurers online
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class price page prices this example:
- Car: V300L Avantgarde, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
Just 5 insurers price the V-Class online. Eleven on our panel do not. The lowest premium is S$1,074.09 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,407.02. That is S$332.93 more, or 31% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
The spread is narrow, but so is the field. There may be lower or higher prices from insurers that do not quote online, so ask them too.
Excess
Most plans here carry a S$600 excess, the lowest included. One carries S$500, and one has none. With so few plans, the excess levels are easy to compare.
Price dates
Each price on the page shows when it was read. Several here were read more than a week ago. With only five insurers, one change of rates can move the lowest price.
The driver matters most
The lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$2,099.73, S$1,025.64 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,680.81, S$606.72 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$2,196.64, S$1,122.55 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,173.76, S$99.67 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,106.39, S$32.30 more
- A car 8 years old: S$1,022.35, S$51.74 less
The younger driver is the costliest change here. The lowest price rises 105%, more than double. Losing the NCD comes close behind. Car age matters far less. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different sums.
If several family members will drive the car, add the youngest to your quote. It may change the bill by over a thousand dollars.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
Their average lowest price is S$891.93. The V-Class is 20% above that, and all six cost less to insure. These cars are grouped by engine size, not by seats. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page has the other models.
Before you buy
- Check the body type with the dealer: the list files the V-Class as commercial. Make sure the car you buy is registered for the private use these prices assume.
- Check the version: petrol-electric or diesel, since road tax and insurance differ.
- Quote every driver: as the list shows, a younger driver can double the premium.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at home and work. Check your car park's height and lot limits for a vehicle like this.
- Petrol or diesel: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and timing.
- Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package cover.
- Depreciation: what you pay against what the vehicle fetches later.
