The GLE250d 4MATIC is a Mercedes-Benz with a 2,143cc engine. It is not on the new-car list now, so you would buy one used. Its yearly costs come down to road tax and insurance. For this car, the insurance depends heavily on your no-claim discount, as the figures below show.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Use them to compare.
The version priced
There is no GLE250d on the new-car list now, so this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type.
Our quote form prices the GLE250d 4MATIC with its 2,143cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.
COE
The 2,143cc engine is above 1,600cc, so the GLE250d needs a Category B COE. That closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
A used GLE250d comes with its COE paid. You pay for the years left on it through the asking price. The COE page has later results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 2,143cc engine S$1,379.84 a year, before any age surcharge.
Past 10 years, a surcharge is added:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
On a base of this size, each step is a noticeable increase. The road tax page has the formula.
Insurance for the stated driver
The Mercedes-Benz GLE250d price page prices this example:
- Car: GLE250d 4MATIC, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
8 insurers price the car online. Eight on our panel do not, so the online choice is narrower than for many cars. The lowest premium is S$991.29 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,855.88. That is S$864.59 more, or 87% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So for the same car and driver, one insurer's lowest plan costs close to double another's. Ask the insurers that do not price online as well.
Each price on the page also shows the date it was read. Some here were read more than a week before this guide, so they may have moved. With only eight insurers in the field, one change in rates can reorder the list.
Excess
The excesses are simple here. Nearly every plan sets S$600, the lowest included. One sets S$500 and one has none. So you can compare these premiums almost directly.
Plan levels
Some insurers list a basic plan and fuller ones, priced a few hundred dollars apart. Read what the fuller plans add before you pay for them.
The NCD makes the biggest difference
The lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$2,045.56, S$1,054.27 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,637.45, S$646.16 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,695.40, S$704.11 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,143.46, S$152.17 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,077.85, S$86.56 more
- A car 8 years old: S$934.49, S$56.80 less
Without the NCD, the lowest price is 106% higher, more than double. Even a 20% NCD leaves you paying S$646.16 more. The younger driver pays much more too. The older driver and the new car add smaller sums. The 8-year-old car costs a little less. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by other amounts.
If your NCD is below 50%, plan for a much bigger insurance bill than the example shows. The NCD builds up with each claim-free year, so a new driver starts at the dear end and works down over time.

- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Vellfire: S$764.82

- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
Their average lowest price is S$887.11. The GLE250d is 12% above it. Five of the six cost less to insure; only the BMW 3 Series costs more. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page links the other models.
