Mercedes-Benz GLC300 AMG Line running costs and insurance in Singapore

Road tax, the Category B COE and dated car insurance prices for a used Mercedes-Benz GLC300 AMG Line in Singapore, against similar SUVs.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The GLC300 AMG Line is the 1,991cc version on our quote form. It is not on the new-car list now, so this is a used-car guide. It covers the costs you pay each year, road tax and insurance, and the COE category. It also shows how the insurance compares with six similar cars, where this one comes out dearer than all of them.

The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Use them to see how prices compare.

The car priced

With no entry on the new-car list, this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type.

Our quote form prices the GLC300 AMG Line with its 1,991cc petrol engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and all figures below are for it.

COE

The 1,991cc engine is above 1,600cc. So the GLC300 AMG Line needs a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

A used car's COE was paid when it was first registered. What you pay for now is the remaining years. The COE page has later rounds.

Road tax

For the 1,991cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,201.54 a year, before any age surcharge.

The surcharge starts after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers other engine sizes.

Car insurance for the stated driver

The Mercedes-Benz GLC300 AMG Line price page prices this example:

  • Car: GLC300 AMG Line, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

11 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$1,046.37 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,688.29. That is S$641.92 more, or 61% on top. Prices include 9% GST.

Five insurers on our panel have no online price for this model. A few prices that do appear are marked as estimates, so check those with the insurer.

Excess

The lowest plan has a S$600 excess, like most on the page. Some plans set S$500, S$750 or S$800. One has no excess, and one asks S$2,500. That last plan sits in the middle of the price list, so its high excess is easy to miss. If you ever claim, you would pay that sum before the insurer pays anything.

Plans at different levels

Several insurers list a basic, a middle and a top plan here. The steps between them run to a couple of hundred dollars. What you get for that money differs by insurer, so read the plan details on the price page.

What moves the price

The lowest price with one detail changed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,334.14, S$287.77 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,334.14, S$287.77 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,334.14, S$287.77 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,143.46, S$97.09 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,077.85, S$31.48 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$995.98, S$50.39 less

Without the NCD, the lowest price rises 28%. The older driver pays S$97.09 more than the 40-year-old, so age alone moves the price here. An 8-year-old car costs a little less to insure. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different sums.

Dearer than six similar cars

For the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$891.93. The GLC300 AMG Line is 17% above that. All six are cheaper to insure for this driver. If you are choosing between these cars on running costs, insurance is one line where the GLC costs more. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page has the other models.

Points to check on a used GLC300

  • Engine: GLC300s have come in more than one form. Road tax follows engine size, so check the log card shows the 1,991cc engine.
  • Registration date: it sets the road tax step and the COE years left.
  • Your own quote: the example assumes a 50% NCD. Your price may differ.
  • Service history: ask what has been done and what is coming up.

Costs that depend on you

The figures so far are set by the car and by the insurers. These next ones are set by how you live and drive, so only you can put numbers on them.

  • Parking: season parking at home and work, plus parking elsewhere.
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Upkeep: tyres, brakes and a battery over time, plus servicing to the maker's schedule.
  • Depreciation: what you pay against what the car fetches later.

Yearly figures in brief
