Mercedes-Benz GLC in Singapore, the costs of buying and insuring one

What the Mercedes-Benz GLC costs in Singapore: list prices, its Category B COE, road tax and dated insurance prices for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 6 min read

A GLC is a large outlay in Singapore, and the costs keep coming after you sign. This guide is for anyone pricing one up, whether new or a few years old. It walks through the list price, the COE, road tax and car insurance, then the costs only you can estimate.

Insurance figures here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own premium depends on your details. Read them as a picture of how the costs stack up, not as a quote.

GLC versions on the new-car list

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 shows eight GLC versions, all SUVs made in Germany. Six are mild hybrids, petrol-electric, and two are fully electric:

  • GLC200 4MATIC Avantgarde Mild Hybrid: 1,999cc
  • GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line Mild Hybrid: 1,999cc, 255bhp
  • GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line Premium Mild Hybrid: 1,991cc, 268bhp
  • GLC Coupe GLC200 4MATIC Avantgarde Mild Hybrid: 1,999cc, 201bhp
  • GLC Coupe GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line Mild Hybrid: 1,999cc, 255bhp
  • GLC Coupe GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line Premium Mild Hybrid: 1,999cc, 255bhp
  • GLC400 4MATIC AMG Line 94.4 kWh: electric, 483bhp
  • GLC400 4MATIC AMG Line Sport 94.4 kWh: electric, 483bhp

The insurance prices below are for the GLC 200 with a 1,991cc engine, the version most of our insurers quote.

List prices

As listed on 2026-10-10, COE included:

  • GLC200 4MATIC Avantgarde: S$329,888
  • GLC Coupe GLC200 4MATIC Avantgarde: S$349,888
  • GLC400 4MATIC AMG Line (electric): S$392,888
  • GLC300 AMG Line Premium, SUV or Coupe: S$411,000
  • GLC400 4MATIC AMG Line Sport (electric): S$415,888
  • GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line: S$434,888
  • GLC Coupe GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line: S$436,888

These move with each COE round. A dealer's figure on the day you visit may not match. Compare what each offer includes, not only the headline.

COE category

The price page states this plainly. With a 1,991cc engine, above 1,600cc, the GLC 200 needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100. The premium changes every bidding round; see the COE page for the newest result.

Road tax each year

For petrol and petrol-electric cars, road tax follows engine size. For the GLC 200's 1,991cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,201.54 a year, before any surcharge for age.

Older cars pay more. The surcharge after the 10-year mark runs:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Electric versions are taxed on motor power rather than engine size, so their road tax is worked out differently. The road tax page covers both.

Here is what the standard driver pays

The Mercedes-Benz GLC price page prices one profile:

  • Car: GLC 200, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years behind a licence
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

For that profile, 14 insurers give a price. The lowest is S$925.60 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,547.50, which is S$621.90 more, or 67% on top. Prices include 9% GST.

Two insurers on our panel have no online price for the GLC yet.

Read the excess too

The excess is the first part of any claim, paid by you. Most plans on the page carry S$600. The lowest premium on the page comes with a S$2,500 excess, while one plan has S$0 and others go up to S$3,000. Set the premium beside the excess before you choose, since a small saving can mean a much larger bill after an accident.

Pros and cons of the GLC's insurance costs

On the plus side

  • Many insurers price it, which gives you room to compare.
  • A new GLC costs a little less to insure than the 3-year-old example, at the lowest price.
  • An 8-year-old car comes in lower again.

On the minus side

  • The spread between insurers is wide, at 67% on top.
  • Losing your NCD lifts the lowest price by 38%.
  • Against similar cars, it costs 4% more than their average.

When one detail changes

The price page shows the lowest price when a single thing changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,279.09, S$353.49 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,279.09, S$353.49 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,279.09, S$353.49 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,037.02, S$111.42 more
  • New car, registered this year: S$909.07, S$16.53 less
  • Car 8 years old: S$858.89, S$66.71 less

The NCD line matters most. An older driver pays a little more here, which is not the case for every car. These are lowest prices only, so dearer plans may shift by other sums.

Next to similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$891.93. The GLC is 4% above that, and three of the six are cheaper to insure. Other models from the brand are on the Mercedes-Benz car insurance page.

Costs you control

These have no single figure, because they turn on how and where you use the car:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus office and mall rates. Ask your block or building for its rate.
  • Petrol or charging: depends on your distance and the price at the pump or the charger. The electric GLC400 runs on charging alone.
  • ERP: set by your routes and times.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule; tyres, brakes and batteries come due over time. Check what the warranty covers.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later in its COE life.

The bottom line in figures

For the GLC 200, with dates as shown:

  • Road tax: S$1,201.54 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$925.60 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,279.09
  • Insurance, new car: from S$909.07
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$858.89

One-off costs: a list price from S$329,888 as listed on 2026-10-10, and a Category B COE of S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
